I was sold on Smith when I saw that video of Gus calling him on draft day.

In September, the Jags put him on the practice squad, and I was shocked that over the next month until he was signed, he was not picked up by another team.  He's got some game, but just needs more development.  He's a little short, needed to add strength and relied too much on a speed rush seemed to be the concern in the draft process.

Would love if he becomes a Ryan Davis type that gets consistent pass rush.

You need more than a few guys that can get after the passer.

Not bad for a 5th rounder.
Chris Smith sacks: 3

Jadeveon Clowney sacks: 0

Being a little short isn't always a bad thing on the DL, especially when it comes to rushing the QB. He's 6'1, but he has a 34 1/8 inch arm length. He definitely needs to get stronger in the run game to be more than that situational pass rusher. He does absolutely have some game though.

It seems every time Smith gets a chance he makes a play.  Looking forward to Branch, Davis, Smith, and a draft pick rushing the passer next year.
Good depth when it comes to the DLine.  The Dline for the most part has been great at stopping the run & getting to the QB... its the LBs, CBs, and Safetys that have ruined the passing & rushing yards & Points...

sure the DLine may have messed up a few times but not nearly as much as the rest of the D has this season.

I would give the Jaguars D Line an A+, the LBs are a bit difficult to rate because Poz is a beast but is out on IR, Telvin Smith is very promising but doesnt have the awareness to know where he should be all the time.. (however his skill espesically his speed usually makes up for it) the relvoing of the positions... I wanted to say B (becuase im a homer) but its  most likely a C.   The CBs are young, and at times do a good job but arent aggressive enough and often miss assignments.  It too has been plagued in injuries but I have to give them a D due to the lack of Interceptions and PDs.  I am hopeful that Aaron Colvin will be a great starter and continue to improve next season, but worried about Gratz (bubblegum) & McCray.

The Safetyes have been an F, sure Josh Evans at times does a great play but he more often than not messes up and causes big plays.  Guy did a few great plays but messed up enough to be cut from the team (then again so was Josh at one point).  Martin is below average.  SS Jonathan Cyprien improved greatly at the end of last season and going into the start of this one until his bell got struck.. fell back a bit but still hopefull he'll improve.

Overall Defense has to be a D+ due to the poor Db play.
