Quote:With the Steelers and Chargers in the playoffs would that make Luck the 2nd weakest QB in the AFC playoffs? Or is Dalton better than Luck?

Dalton has a better team around him, but I don't think there are many people that would take Dalton over Luck at QB.

I know Luck hasn't been great in the playoffs, except for that miraculous comeback, but Dalton has been downright Gabbert-esque.

wow...  That's a tough question!  I've listened to so much Luck propaganda, I almost immediately laughed off the Dalton v. Luck comparison.  But, if you think about it, they may be very similar in terms of thier performances in the playoffs...

Yeah fair enough but I think we can all agree he is behind Manning Brady Big Ben and Rivers

I don't think that is even a question, although clot fans will have an obvious bias.

This years playoffs are going to be fun to watch.

Will Dalton finally win a playoff game?

How far will Luck go in this years playoffs?

Can Manning get back to the SB?

QB rating-wise and yardage wise, Luck has played better...

But Luck has thrown 7 INTs and has 1 lost fumble in 3 playoff games played.  http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id...ndrew-luck

Dalton has turned over the ball as well, but in three games he's turned it over 6 times...

So I guess, at this point I think you have to still say luck has been better in the playoffs.

But...  Dalton right now, in December is having a tremendous statistical performance compared to Luck...  So maybe you take the player that is playing better right now...  In that case, you take Dalton, and you don't look back.

I guess it's because Luck is in the same division as the Jaguars and thus denigrating Luck will make the Jaguars look better - or something. Sure that's stupid logic, but why else would some posters on here embarrass themselves like this?

Do you really think any GM in the NFL would select Dalton over Luck?

And does anyone actually watch these games? Does anyone think the Colts are anything other than mediocre? It's a miracle they make the playoffs. They do because today's NFL is geared toward having a very good QB = winning. Which is what the Colts do.

If Luck played on the Seahawks I'm sure people would think differently, as then he wouldn't have to practically win games on his own.
I missed this game unfortunately.

No, and the QB is a big part of that. He's not good enough to win a shootout. They are 2-5 when the other team scores more than 24
.

It was as competitive as the early season jags

It was over early and I mean EARLY, as in early in the 1st quarter.

One fake punt deep in Cowboys territory, that was out right dropped, sealed the clots fate early in the game.

The division winning AFC team just didn't show up for their premiere match up against the NFC division leading Cowboys.

Also, Luck got benched.
Not good to have a showing like that two weeks before post season even if the game was technically meaningless.

well there was that one time we destroyed that colts and put up 375 rushing yards on them, then they won the super bowl

all the turnovers he committs with a worse group of pass catchers would put the seahawks in a bad spot.

That was indeed a galvanizing game for their defense which improved after that game.  I think those instances are more an anomaly and the Colts can't bank on that happening again for certain.
I doubt this one game will change my stance on Luck. Crowning him or labeling him as elite is premature. Luck is good enough, but his team and coaching staff is not. Whether that can change for the better remains to be determined.

Yeah, if one were to only listen to ESPN radio (which I do at work) one would have heard all the hype about Luck and thus think it's absolutely true.

Luck also almost single handedly lost to the browns 2 or 3 weeks ago.  He's a good to pretty good QB.  There's no doubt.  But speaking of his playoff performances, he's very similar to Dalton.  He's numbers are only a little bit better, and he has 2 more TOs compared to Dalton in the same amount of games.

The question was asked to me, and I looked up the numbers and remember watching all those games.  He's not that special in the playoffs.  It's just the facts...

Again, if all you do is listen to the hype, you may think my post questioning whether to take Dalton or Luck may look silly.  But if you look at the numbers, you may see that it's not as obvious as one would think.

If you JUST look at stats they don't even compare. Look at this year:

Luck - 4,601 yards, 38 TDs, 16 INTs, QBR 64.3, Rating 95.4

Dalton - 3,008 yards, 15 TDs, 14 INTs, QBR 57.3, Rating 82.9

PS- I recommend NOT just looking at stats. Watch the games. He's clearly superior to Dalton and really it's not even close.

I was talking specifically about the playoffs.  And I've watched all of luck's playoff games and 2 of the 3 Dalton playoff games.

They both have dropped January dueces in the playoffs...  The numbers support what I saw.

Maybe this year, Luck will having his playoff coming out party, otherwise, I think pretty soon he will no longer be the ESPN darling he currently is.

if you actually PS watch the games, you will see that luck is pretty inaccurate when he throws the football. he also has had an abnormal amount of interceptions dropped this year. he just isnt a very accurate passer and he overthinks things and causes way too many turnovers.

but thats just if you actually watch.
