Full Version: I'm all for Gus to stay, but if Sean Payton is fired - bye Gus

I think Gus Bradley should get a one more year to show that he's the right guy

But if we can get a Sean Payton, you have to dump Gus Bradley and get him, Khan needs to open up that wallet for this guy

They were saying on ESPN that Payton me be out after this year, not because he's a bad coach but one of those situations of just been in one place too long.

When Payton took over New Orleans they were a mess, so he has proven to be a good coach in a rebuild mode

Before you say he has Drew Brees, Brees was not the QB he is today when he left the Chargers, he was a solid QB with upside, give Payton Blake Bortles he could do a lot of work on help making him great.

2nd this notion but I doubt he leaves.
Payton isn't going anywhere. Harbaugh is on the bubble, but I'm no fan of him.

Gus isn't going anywhere either. Khan is giving this crew a few years. Meaning at least two more
There's no way he leaves. If he did, It would be cool if they fire Fisch and let Payton be the O.C.; fire Babich and let Gus take over full defensive responsibilities. Payton is a better coach than Gus no doubt, but he is pretty [BLEEP] and always looks like he's giving the "blue steel" face from Zoolander.

I mean, come on:

I'm not sure how to post pictures, if someone would do the honors.

Payton would be a sweet hire for this team. Especially paired with a good defensive coordinator (not the one he has now with the Saints)

I don't get the 2nd sentence however. Gus is already historically bad at 6-23. You somehow think that deserves an automatic 2 more years? I'm not even sure he deserves next season, especially if they finish these last 3 games at 1-2 and as poorly as they've played the first 13 of this season. I really haven't seen anything from Bradley that suggests he's going to make this grand improvement next season. He makes coaching mistakes frequently; time management, challenges, lack of adjustments, doesn't seem to think well on his feet. Not to mention bad hires for his 2 right hand men on the coaching tree. This doesn't seem to be a case of a guy that is just suffering from lack of personnel. A lot of the losing falls squarely on Bradley...and he's no rookie anymore. Were 30 games into this.
im all for giving gus another year with some wiggle room, (depends on the record by week 12)(major progress with no excuses)

but then again, payton and harbaugh are upgrades :whistling:

I'll say this much: I think if the ownership DOES have doubts about this staff's ability to get the job done, they should replace him now, rather than waiting a year or two and potentially stunting the growth of the young talent this team has. It doesn't seem easy, to me at least, to spend multiple years learning one system, and then blowing the thing up and trying to learn another one. For how crappy Gabbert was, the multiple staff changes every year couldn't have helped any.

I don't care what decision they make, whether they keep Gus or not. I do want them to be sure of themselves, their decisions, and the reasons why they made those decisions. I think and hope they will do just that.

This is a big offseason for both the ownership and the staff. I don't doubt for a minute that the Khan family is at least considering all their options. It's time to get this team to where it can start build some stability.

You have no idea. I have no idea. We weren't involved in the discussions with Khan, Bradley and Caldwell. For all we know Khan told Caldwell/Bradley that he's richer than god and he'll weather the storm no matter what it takes. Who knows how many years they talked about. We'll just have to wait and see.

Also - for Khan to dump Caldwell or Bradley, that reflects on Khan's ability to select the proper people (and I don't think for a minute that the Bradley hire didn't have to get the ok from Khan) and his ego may make it tough to act to quickly.

Also - doesn't Payton have 2 or 3 years left on his contract? I wonder if he would be released from that to coach the competition.
If the Saints foolishly are willing to move on w/o Sean Payton,  my guess is at least 5 teams would have Payton at the top of the list of who they want to be their Head Coach in 2015.   Sean Payton might be able to command $ 10 million per season on a multi-year contract.    The Saints are underachieving this season but Payton's overall track record is tremendous.   If not for Payton,   the Saints probably would have ended up eventually moving to San Antonio,  the city they played in during the 2005 season because of the damage Hurricane Katrina caused in New Orleans.

Uh, yeah...  Payton ain't leavin' the ain'ts of his own accord or getting canned for that matter.  Talk about knee-jerk reactions to a subpar season...  sheesh.

Rob Ryan won't be there next season.  That defense is bad and so is his track record every where he's been.

The only way Sean Payton isn't the head coach of the Saints next year is if he suddenly decides to take an early retirement.

As much as it pains me to say it, because I really want Bradley gone, I think Gus is in the same situation with the Jags that Payton is with the Saints.

No way the Saints let him go.

He still has three years, 24 million left on his deal.

No way he goes.

We should just hire Mike Pete as LB coach

Yeah, if those numbers are true, I'm in total agreement with you here. Payton won't be going anywhere this offseason.
I still don't understand the reasoning of why he should be fired. Does ESPN not have enough stories to pump out that they have to start making stuff up?
If he was fired, he wouldn't be coming to Jacksonville.

why do you say that?
Shame on you for wanting a HC with past HC coaching experience. Shame on you.
If hes not a member of the saints next year my mind would be blown.
