A car crashed and overturned on the Church Street bridge over I-277 about 12:30 p.m. and ambulances were on the scene. A second car involved in the crash is also in the road, near Hill Street.
 
A man appearing to be Newton was seen strapped down to a stretcher, according to a WBTV report.
 
"We are closely monitoring the situation of a car wreck involving Cam Newton," the Panthers said in a statement. "We will have more information at an appropriate time."

Yeah, they just broke in on the radio saying he was pretty seriously injured.  Thoughts and prayers.

Hope he recovers quickly.
Reporting now he is not injured.

Rumors are all over the place.
He has 2 transverse fractures in his back. The same injury Romp suffered.

Derek Anderson,  the former Browns QB.   Jimmy Clausen became Jay Cutler's backup in Chicago.   Anderson led the Panthers to an opening day win at Tampa Bay.   It looks like he will be facing the Bucs again.  

 

Hopefully,  Cam Newton will make a full recovery.
