One of the things that is going to be interesting about this game is how FSU responds. That Oregon offense puts a tremendous amount of pressure on a team, not just a Defense. The Defense is worried about stopping them and the Offense is worried about keeping up.
How the players and the coaching staff respond in-game to that pressure will be interesting to watch.

Quote:Didn't meet my narrative? Wow this is awesome. I apparently am now both a FSU homer (according to UCFKnight) and a FSU hater (according to you). I missed one team, which was UF, which probably was the best job they've done against a good running team this season. Otherwise, this FSU line has been pushed around quite often this season.
I pulled the numbers from ESPN and just took the average. So, since you're so willing to in-depth about this...what is the actual YPC against FSU by those 8 teams?
Holding them below their average doesn't really mean much, given that those teams also played lesser teams that give up yardage. The best and only way to really look at them is how they did against FSU...without comparing that to how they did against Ga Southern (as an example).
Point is...if the Ducks get 4.4 ypc like what these teams have been getting against FSU...Mariotta will make them pay if they cheat against the run...something that most of those other teams really couldn't do. Moreso, Marcus can make them pay both from him running and throwing.
This is going to be a problematic game defensively for the Noles.
Hahahah, you'll never win this one.

It's an opinion. Don't let it upset you so much.

Flippant opinions deserve flippant responses.

Quote:I never said hater. I rarely call people names. I'm saying they played 7 good rushing teams. I mentioned them in the post above yours. You picked only the 6 of those they did the worst against and used that for your conclusion. I figured you threw out UF because that number didn't fit. If you just overlooked it, fine.
I don't care about the total YPC against those 7 teams because some games are more predictive than others.
The three games they did the best are BC, UM, and UF. Those games all also came at the end of the year. All were at least a half a yard less in YPC against FSU compared to the rest of their schedule. FSU has gotten a LOT better against the run as the year went on. The week before UM they played Virginia and held them to 1.2 YPC. The only reason FSU's run defense isn't getting more respect is because they played 3 of the top rushing teams in all the power five conferences in their last four games.
I think Oregon will get somewhere near 4.4 ypc. Anything less than that has to be reason for celebration. Right now they're averaging 5.5 ypc. Oregon is REALLY good on offense. FSU is not going to shut Oregon down. They just need to slow Mariota more than the Duck's defense can slow Winston and company. And barring turnovers, I believe they'll do that.
The problem is, from what I've seen of FSU's defense...whenever they couldn't stop the run or struggling putting pressure on the offense, Kelly's solution has been to be more aggressive and use Ramsey closer to the LOS. He was flat out beastly against UM in the 2nd half, made some big plays against UF, and was instrumental in containing GT's triple-read option.
I don't think the Noles can do that against Oregon.

The point of Ramsay's position is that they can gamble with him. He actually isn't asked to come up and tackle that often, but when they surprise the opposition with him, they often get a big play. Case in point he only had 3 tackles in the Miami game you cited and 1 against UF (per ESPN). Against GT he did primarily come up and defend the run because that's what everyone in the secondary did. I don't think Ramsay is nearly as key in those games against the run as the D-Line and Linebackers are. And they've gotten better throughout the year.

Well that's my point. I feel they can't gamble with Jalen given how potent this Oregon defense is. I don't know the stats for Ramsay on the other games, but watching that 2nd half of Miami game, I thought he was all over the place.

The Heisman winner has won their last five bowl games. I still think all the travel and events the Heisman winner goes through instead of being on campus prepping has an effect on their performance. I think all five of those winners faced clearly inferior teams. And the Heisman winner lost the four bowl games before that.
Anybody else feel that Mariota's preparation for FSU will be hurt (even if only slightly) by the Heisman circuit?

FSU started practice yesterday. Mariota has been on the road since Thursday (Orlando, Baltimore, New York) and will still be 'on tour' through at least Monday Night (The Late Show) before he can head back to practice. The game is two weeks out from Thursday. Not a huge deal, but I think it's at least a little bit of a disadvantage.

who knows if these teams will even be the same a month from now. The long layover between the season and bowl games is ridiculous.

If FSU wins the game then all the people on this board will make it into a bigger deal as to why Oregon lost....you know because FSU never gets credit for actually winning the games they play lol.
I think both teams are very talented and arguments can be made for both to win. Its gonna be a great game and I think that FSU wins by less than a touchdown simply because this team doesn't seem to know how to lose...and I believe FSU is simply the more physical team at the point of attack on both sides of the ball.
