In Ohio we had bushes, two pear trees, and a lamp post in the front yard. Mom put multicolor string lights on the bushes and lamp post. That was not nearly as much as some other houses. We drove around the city just to look at lights.

My family and I do that too. Get some hot chocolate and hit the road one night.

It's not like I'm lying or anything...  You can get lights and fireworks pretty much year round at night in that area of town.   :thumbsup:

And this is why I love living in North Carolina now. It's actually cold up here in December. I hated wearing shorts on Christmas day when I lived down there.

It's always a little odd to me for when I trek down to JAX for the holidays and I have to make myself pack shorts and flip flops while I'm rocking a sweater and wool socks. I like the break from the cold when I'm down there, but I like that it actually gets cold here.

I remember my first Christmas here in 1991 after living up north for 27 years. It was a tad surreal climbing around on the roof putting up lights in shorts, the first time.

And to counter that, I remember helping my brother put together a swingset on Christmas Eve night. It had to have been in the 40's outside and the dew had set in. My hands were like ice! We had been running around in shorts and t-shirts during the day, then in comes this cold front.

And I love it!! I love that Christmas Day weather is a total crapshoot!! I wouldn't know what to do if it was cold on Christmas Day every year!! I love the mystery that is Florida weather!! :thumbsup:

Nah - I want there to be at least a fifty/fifty percent chance I can wear flip-flops when I go out to get the paper on Christmas day.

 

Actually that's why I love north Florida. One year the high on Christmas may be 77, another year 47.

I'm originally from Colorado so I love cold weather and snow. :-)

One last word on the uniqueness of north Florida weather and why like it: I just noticed in the paper that the record high for December 12 is 83, in 1961. The record low for Dec. 12? 22 in 1962.

 

The record high one year ,the record low the next year. How cool is that?
