I get a spreadsheet each month from artist management that often includes festival gigs that are sometimes booked/negotiated several months in advance.

No kidding --- sounds like you actually have a fun job.
Quote: A team can choose whether to have their bye week the week after a game in London or later in the season.  I'm not aware of the NFL granting a request for a team to have their bye week in a specific week later in the season,

I thought they could choose. Not sure??

That's correct.  The NFL accommodated Indy's request NOT to have the bye week after the Week 4 London game BUT Indy did not have the power to choose/mandate a specific week later in the year.  The NFL simply granted their request not to have it that early (if possible).

The following article discusses the subject to at least some extent:

This is my take as well.

It will be interesting to see with more and more overseas/ foreign site games how the NFL is going to proceed moving forward with scheduling logistics.
So it seems random then, ideal would be London game week 7, then bye. I believe something like that happened one year. I hope the Jags dont take the bye that early

The middle of the season seems like the best time for a bye in general.   The Packers early season bye and not having a playoff bye caught up to them against the much more fresh Falcons in the NFC Championship game.

We had a Week 8 London game and took off Week 9 two straight years.

Not having a playoff bye obviously hurt the Packers, but they ironically won without Jordy Nelson and lost with him. Injuries other players suffered during the Falcons game had a bigger impact than three wide receivers playing hurt.

They now schedule us early in London before the international crowd can identify that the Jags suck again.  By week 5 the news that we suck gets across the pond to England and by week 10 even the North Korean [BAD WORD REMOVED] know we suck

That, and the England National Soccer team play at Wembley Stadium in the latter months of the year for World Cup Qualifiers.. so better to have the games early in the season... Warmer too!

The Wembley are usually sold out before February ends so clearly the Jags's has no bearing on ticket sales.
