Quote:Like recovering a fumble for a  40+ yard touchdown? Yeah that's a pretty good day.  Smile
They credited Gratz with causing the fumble which I dont feel is right.  When I watched Colvin go low as the WR is starting to flip you can cleary see the ball between his legs as Gratz starts to hit him.  Not trying to take away from the great teamwork of Gratz, it was well played but I just think the FF should be in Aaron's stats.

I've seen the replay like 20 times. Colvin sends the player in the air, gratz comes in and knocks the ball out.

This.   ^ I posted a gif of it in this thread.

to be fair, the gif doesn't really show anything conclusively.  the angle is such that it appears that Gratz knocks it out, but you never really see Gratz hitting the ball.

Doesn't matter - as long as the play is made.

OK.  I'll give you a better angle.

I adjusted the color in the first one so you can see the football still clutched by the TE.

Here you can see Gratz's glove above the TE's glove where he's just stripped the ball.

They don't care about this. Gratz is now on there hate list. It's crazy Some are disappointed that he caused the fumble and not Colvin lol. I'm just happy that it happened.

Okay I stand corrected!  I never saw that angle.

all good.  I had to watch it three times in slo-mo
The Jaguars are 3rd in team sacks, but the other teams have tons of PDEF  & ints

#1.) Bills with 48 sacks, 73PD, 15 INTs

#2.) Eagles with 42 sacks, 73 PD, 10 INTs

#3.) Jaguars with 37sacks, 40pd, 5 ints

#4.) Vikings with 35sacks, 59pds, 11INTs

#5.) Broncos with 34 sacks, 72PDs, 12 INTs

My point is if the Jaguars had better play from the DBs the team would have more wins.  I realize Gratz is only in his 2nd year and is still learning but I am thinking that Aaron Colvin will prove to be the better CB out of the two.

In 2005 we had 47 sacks, I wonder if we'll eclipse that.

Compared to 2009 and 2010 combined we had 40 sacks, 14  (that's horrific) in 2009 and 26 in 2010.

The Jags have a very young secondary with a FS lacking the talent to play the position well in their scheme. That accounts for those numbers IMO.

I would:   Upgrade FS -  coach up  Cyprien/provide a mid tier FA for competition - and re-sign Alan Ball.  <  Only one of those things will require a high pick or big money in FA.

Between Ball, McCray, Colvin and Gratz you should be able to find two quality corners for next year.  Put the third guy at nickel and the other becomes depth.  If they want to add competition , that's fine too, but I think this secondary will take a leap forward with a better FS, a little competition,  and another year of maturity.

@HaysCarlyon: Gus says Colvin had a big impact. Lot of times Eli looked his way and went elsewhere.
@JohnOehser: Jaguars HC Gus Bradley said Aaron Colvin had a grade that indicated he impacted a play every four plays. Remarkably high for a nickel CB.
Colvin was targeted a bit but held his own. He should have been beaten for a TD once but Manning over threw it just a bit. Gave up a decent corner route i thought he could have picked.

MCcray had his guy in check all day and made 2 really nice tackles to prevent first downs.

Gotta agree on Gratz. Outside of the FF he was getting burned in every way. Evans outside of a nice screen tackle was awful too. He actually cut cyp off on what should have been a tackle and tripped him up.

I agree about the CBs. McCray is playing sensationally well. Colvin was better than Gratz, but that's not saying much.

I didn't pay that much attention to the safeties, but my impression was that Evans had a good game. I was probably wrong about that.

EDIT: Lest I be misconstrued, I thought Colvin was fine considering it was just his second game. But he has a way to go.

Colvin was the better of the two the second he was drafted.

Colvin also was going to be a first round pick wit first round talent he should be better

these dudes are also getting gassed because the offense puts them on the field way too much, but their play should also improve with experience.
