Quote:Kam Chancellor averages just about 100 tackles a season and basically forces one fumble every season. I just don't think thats a stat that you can demand of a player reliably.

you're probably right.

It doesn't have to be FFs, I want something other than tackling.

INTs, sacks, FFs, Fumbles recovered, pass break-ups....

Hell,  even if all he's good at is tackling - that's not true either!  He's had many many missed tackles this year and has been one of the main ones contributing to that problem for this defense this year.

I agree it would be nice to see some more game changing plays out of him. There are a lot of zeroes in those stat categories!
Quote:Evans has been fine.

I mean..look who he has at SS. Seriously.

Lol.
To the people who cant make an argument but rather attempt to defend Cyprien by making the vague blanket statement of "watch the games":

Hehe

Cyprien has been a dissapointment. Not sure how anyone could argue differently....oh wait they can't. "Watch the games"...lol

Don't worry it's just a little sophomore slump after playing decent last year. Seems like he may be trying to do too much at times.

On the bright side the times he has been beat have been by good/great players:

Dez Bryant

Andrew Luck

Jermemy Hill

he also had like 5 missed tackles against Miami

Yeah he is definitely not playing great currently. I was just thinking of the big plays this year and he has been involved on way too many of them. Hopfeully he gets it turned around.
I'm sorry someone who is tied for 32nd in tackles this season in terms of the whole NFL isnt as good of a tackler like you guys want. He is beating every member of the seahawks in terms of tackle count except for KJ Wright.

I would provide the link, but my phone isn't allowing me to post it currently. But ESPN has the stats.
Quote:No. /thread

That sums it up for me. Stupid thread. Cyp is not playing well because he is making the mistake of trying to do too much.
He has 5 games or he gets replaced while Telvin can play both why I said he be a great hybrid in the draft
Quote:He's constantly bailing out our corners if you actually watched the game. Lol, you're clueless kid.

Examples, please, because I haven't seen it.

Quote:from ESPN:

Cyprien, who was on the other side of the field, raced over and finally made contact with Bryant at the 10 -- and Bryant carried him into the end zone.

He was always pegged as a hard-hitter coming out of college, and I'm not sure I've seen very many hits worthy of that title. I think he had one to start out the game against Indy... He's soft, takes bad angles, not-that-fast, and doesn't make big plays. I'm not sure how anyone can defend him at this point.

I hope he turns it around, but he's certainly not playing well at all. There seems to be, at least, one big play on his side every game.

That's what you get with small school players y the look so amazing vs inferior competition which is what I thought this team preached
Jonathan Cyprien:  a very "Gene Smith pick" it seems.

Quote:No. I heard the announcer say that and thought it was really dumb. He made all those plays from the linebacker position. Telvin is fast for a linebacker but if you put him at safety he will get cooked.

Cyprien just needs to stay in his zones. If you watch, too often is he getting caught trying to bite off more than he can chew and help out another zone.
Yes this. He's a linebacker, and gets turned around a lot doing that. Don't give up on Cyprien yet. Next year give up on Cyprien.
I think a lot of it has to do with the revolving door of defensive players in the mix. Sometimes he's not sure if a linebacker is gonna make a tackle so he tries to cover it and ends up with busted coverage. It's such a young team and trust has to be formed.

I can't believe people are defending Cyprien. If you can't see he's a very bad player you just don't want to. What other player gets to give up explosive td's week after week and get an excuse for doing it? That's like a wide receiver going out each week and dropping a bomb touchdown and people say it's ok he's just trying to do too much on the play. No reason to be that bad at that safety position except for him not being no good.
I'm defending Cyp as a player because he's extremely talented, however, I'm not defending his play on the field as of late. He's simply got to get his head straightened out and stop giving up explosive plays. Having said this much, he's nowhere near as bad as Reggie Nelson was when he played Safety, and Nelson went on to the Bengals and seemed to play much better as learned the game. I'd hate to give up on Cyp too soon only to see him excel with another team.

He has done nothing of note.

I was expecting him to be a lot better this year.  Probably the player I am most disappointed in right now.

Hope he finishes strong.

Telvin has too big of a frame to play safety. He will naturally gain weight over the years. He won't have the quickness to cover receivers very well.

He could develop into a game changer at linebacker. Keep him there.

Quote:The #1 reason Telvin Smith will only play LB is that is all Telvin Smith wants to play (they asked him during drafting process)!
I seem to recall Jack Del Rio saying about Reggie Nelson, "If I tell him to kick, he'll kick," after Nelson complained about playing cornerback.

That said, Telvin is not a safety.
