I'm sure the plan was to draft defense this time around, after going offense-heavy this year. But, with the defense (which is missing a few players don't forget) has played well, it is tempting to go for some difference-makers on offense again.
But, to complicate things further, it's sounding like the 2015 draft will be strong on defense and O-line, but maybe not as strong as 2014 on positions like WRs. That might influence DCs decision.

I would take a 7th to.trade to 3 and I reckon we can get way more than that at least a high third
Gregory and Williams are both great pass rushers
Williams from the 5 tech moving inside on 3rd and long Gregory at the Leo
And if mariota goes at 1 we are guaranteed either of them

Quote:I'm sure the plan was to draft defense this time around, after going offense-heavy this year. They really should go with a balanced approach and get value with each pick, they still need help on the OL and like you said, this could be a good year to do that.
Even though the defense has played well, we still need better younger players at each level.

Quote:Mariotta if i'm at number 1Yeah right after you spend a number 3 on Bortles. You'd be a great GM.

Quote:Lenoard or Gregory.Gregory would be my choice as of today. Williams would also be an excellent choice. No way they take Cooper in the first as the combo of Robinson, Hurns, Lee and Shorts has the potential to be top 10 and if Blackmon returns easily top 5. It's too early to give up on Joeckel and you don't take a right tackle in round 1. As far as taking a q.b. like Mariotta or Winston, the thought of this is absurd. Maybe if another Luck was in this draft, but this is not the case. Give Bortles at least 1 more year before you think of replacing him. Best scenerio, trade back to 3, take Gregory or Williams and accumulate an extra 2nd and 1st next year. Jags need Mariotta to continue to light it up and have a great postseason increasing the trade value.
I would opt to trade out of the 1st spot, but it would require someone in the top 10. Their 1st, their 2nd, and potentially a 2nd for 2016.

Dream Scenario 1- Try to trade Bortles to a team like Arizona (they were infatuated with him) for their late 1st. Then take Mariota with the first, then someone like Ty Sambrailo (OT from Colorado State) later in the first rd. Early second go best available other than WR. I really hope I'm wrong, but Bortles has taken a huge step back and his lack of natural throwing motion is really showing.
Dream Scenario 2 - Trade for a '15 1st and 2nd, and a '16 1st. Take best avail DL or OL.

Leonard Williams is the only one worth number one overall.
Gregory is not an elite speed rusher at all.

None of the offensive linemen appear to be that dominant to me. Cedric Ogbuehi is way overrated.
Leonard Williams seems to be the most likely choice. Dominant every time I have watched him play. Great size.
Gregory flashes when I have watched him play but I don't think he has the size to be a down lineman.
Shane Ray is one that has gotten my attention. Ultra productive but size a concern with him too.
