my breakdown:

Caldwell: Hasn't made any clear home run picks yet. Although this years class could be really good. Between Robinson Linder and Lee I feel like could produce 2 pro bowlers down the road. Bortles looks pretty bad but ill reserve judgement until we get a coordinator who doesnt set him up to fail. If you look at how little Caldwell was left to work with, and also consider the fact that he (smartly) didnt spend FA cash right away, I dont know if you could reasonably predict more than 9 wins the first two years considering the level of talent and youth of the roster. Having only 1 win this year is inexcusable, but imo that largely lies in the hands of Fisch.

Gus: I may be in the minority but I think hes done an OK job. This goes back to me believing if Fisch could just make the offense just below average instead of straight garbage we would have probably 4-5 wins now. He was given a roster with no talent and clearly hasnt lost the locker room. If you want to argue he did a poor job assembling an offensive coaching staff I cant dispute that. And thats a big part of being a head coach.

Fisch: Absolute trash. Needs to be fired this offseason. Yeah he was given a raw deal with the lack of talent and rookies but its clear he isnt creative or good at game planning. The offense just doesnt look like an NFL team should. It cant do basic things that you should be able to do even with all the youth at this point. This last game was really the last staw

Babich; Idk how to evaluate him because hes basically a puppet for Gus. I think the defense has played at a level to be .500 or better and its pretty young other than the defensive line, so I wouldnt hate him staying.

Bortles: I think some of his issues are fixable. Cam made great strides with his mechanics, maybe it will do wonders for Bortles too. He also has no one to throw to and the offensive line is trash. Next year when we spend some money and have more experience will be able to make a judgement. Still way too early because most rookie QBs historically dont fare well, especially those without a supporting cast. Right now tho he is pretty bad.

I don't see Bortles ever being elite. Just hope he can become 'good enough'. Recent 365 interview, sounds like Caldwell is taking Leonard Williams
I don't know where we are in the rebuild exactly,  but here are my thoughts on it so far:

GM

  -  I have confidence in the GM.  He hasn't been without reproach, but he's found affordable talent in free agency and found a number of gems in mid to late rounds of the draft.  How Joeckel, Cyprien, and Bortles progress/develop will color his first two seasons greatly. I haven't given up hope on any of those players yet. He'll get a chance to spend more money this offseason and I'm curious to see how that goes.

HC

- I can't give an accurate assessment on Gus just yet.  I want to believe in him, but there have been a number of game day decisions that were poor and the record has to begin reflecting on him at some point.  If we aren't to that point in time yet, we're getting close.  I do think he's largely behind the defense finally beginning to look like it's only a few players away from being a powerhouse.  (yes, I believe that)   And he seems to have eliminated most of the weird game day stuff.

OC

I've been a proponent of Fisch since the end of preseason, 2013.  I think he's had the toughest job on the staff.  Trying to milk production out of what he's had to work with would be a tall order for any OC in the league.  It's really tough to determine what he really has to offer with the debacle at O-line, QB and TE he's been stuck with.  I do feel like more could  be done to jumpstart the offense at times, but I doubt anyone would be averaging many more points with an offense so chock-full of youth, inexperience, and plain old poor play.

DC

Ehhh.  Whatever. Had issues with some of his coverage calls early in the season. Don't really have any real confidence in the guy, but when your HC is the defensive guy, I'm not sure it's a major issue.  Maybe they have it worked out - maybe they want to upgrade next season. I'd be fine either way.

I'm really glad to see people weighing in. It's a legitimate discussion to have at this point. Following the bye week, and putting in our worst-ever record, which is likely to continue to get worse.

For my part, it's not about being negative, it's about being objective. There really are plenty of things I am happy about with the 'new' team. Still, sharp criticisms are valid given that positively awful performance. If we get another round of that from the O, we might as well just forfeit the rest of the season and practice at home.

The point differential in the last 4 games is 114-56 which is similar to when Henne was the starter early in the season.

Why do people talk like this Sunday was the first bad game we've had in a while?

At this point, analytically speaking, the "good" showings BB had in the middle of the season are a fluke.

OC stinks. I think we need to cut alualu, Lewis, and poz. If we do that we can have TONS of money for fa and for godsake stop with only grabbing Seahawks players we get it you know the guys but theirs plenty of fish out there
Quote:Our coaches stink...disregard the talent for this argument...

The gameplans are often terrible, ready for failure from the beginning with no Plan B.

Player development is very much lacking.

Bradley's in game management is often attrocious.

The mentality of the coaches is "not to lose" pansy versus "let's go kick from freakin A!"
How can you discern on a given failed play, series of plays, or a lost game, the plays in which the youth betrayed the team, the talent betrayed the team, the coaching betrayed the team, or the opposing team just made a great play?
It's only a rebuild if the GM actually signs some players with the mass amounts of cap space left. When the GM decides to just keep that money in the safe because he wants to only play young guys, it's just called tanking. This team looks so bad. I feel like the front office could have used some of the extra cap space to sign somebody, anybody that would help this team out.

The front office tried to go with some cheap signings and they wasted their money on them. Has Beadles been that good? Gerhart has not been that good (obviously Shoelace looks better). Letting Smith, Mathis, and Knighton walk and then trading Monroe doesn't exactly look good right now either.

I hope the Jags end up with the top pick and a QB emerges. Then the Jags can trade their top pick to a QB needy team and get 4 or 5 picks to move back a few spots.

This franchise is so doomed if they put all of the chips in for 2015.  Stay the same course and just spending big and hoping to hit on the draft could set us back for another 2 to 3 years.

Honestly I don't know how the heck you fix this train wreck.  4 Positions of 22 actually look like football players and an arrow pointing upward.  How much does injury impact this year?  It is hard to think it has much impact.

I'm just really tired of this play it safe and lean on defense plan in so many ways.  With a bye week and a division appoint that you are suppose to have deep familiarity, we put up 3 points?  Not looking good for 2015 or 2016.

I'm tired of the field lapping us.

Yeah, we totally saw that he was all over Bortles in November of last year.

Drafts over kids, go home.
Quote:I was going to buy my wife a jersey for Christmas last year. I could not think of a player that would be here long. Well here it is another Christmas.....you guessed it.

No impact players.
I was thinking that same thing a couple months ago.  I wanted a Marks jersey but ended up getting a Bortles jersey because I didn't see the former on Ebay.  Hopefully he pans out for at least that reason.

In reference to Caldwell:

He's the guy who hired Bradley and approved of Bradley's coordinators. He's the guy who released the veterans on the roster. He's the guy who stocked the roster with FA and rookies.

If Bradley is a failure, if the coordinators are failures, if the roster is a failure, then it stands to reason Caldwell is a failure.

-% chance.
If I gave Chef Ramsey a basket with a radish, an egg, and a stalk of celery, and asked him to make a dish for diners that had just ordered Filet Mignon, even he would likely fail.

Gus "Hell's Kitchen" Bradley and his coordinators were doomed with the 53 ingredients given to him by Dave Caldwell.  Caldwell's plan has long-term merit, but your asking loyal and paying fans to take a beating for another 2 years...I just don't think this is a reasonable expectation of the fans' patience given the losing record and pain before Dave's arrival.
