I love it. The $100,000 fine was absolutely unnecessary and ridiculous. I love Marshawn Lynch and that interview was perfect. I hope he does it every week. If he doesn't want to talk, then he shouldn't have to.

Lynch seems to have an IQ of about 15. Running backs do get hit in the head a lot.

I wish the NFL would respect his preference to not talk to the media. Has that fact not been known for years? Nobody can make him feel comfortable talking to reporters. The NFL knows Darren Sproles does not like to talk to reporters so he's only been asked to do so once - after scoring the game-winning touchdown in the playoffs. But they know Marshawn Lynch is uncomfortable around microphones and make him do it anyway? That is not fair to him at all.
The subject title reminded me of a Nissan commercial where drivers say, "Yeah," while listening to music from another driver's car.

Poor baby. It's part of his contract. The NFL is an entertainment industry and it wants its stars to be available to its fans via the media.
I understand some people are uncomfortable in front of strangers, but it's not like he's asked to recite the Gettysburg Address. Answer a few softball questions and be on your way. Lynch wants it both ways - use the media to promote his "brand" (and his charity), but disrespect the media people who are just trying to do their job.
If he can't handle the simple media aspect of his job perhaps he doesn't belong in the NFL.

If every contract has a media requirement, why don't all 1900 players hold press conferences? I seriously doubt that is a standard part of player contracts.
If Marhawn Lynch disrespects the media, it is because reporters make a big deal about his public speaking anxiety.

I'm waiting for one of these players with social anxiety to throw a lawsuit the NFLs way and we'll see this abolished.

If anyone did that it would be Darren Sproles because he has a speech disorder.

I don't think Lynch has any sort of public speaking anxiety. He can talk, if/when he wants, but he likes his privacy and doesn't like all the drama media makes about him. He also said it best himself, "Talking has never gotten me anything". Other thing is he's a team player and doesn't want too much attention for himself.
I say just let him talk on the pitch, where he gives 120% every Sunday. There is Richard Sherman, who loves talking to the media (and they like him too) and probably 20 to 30 other players on the team, who would like to talk sometimes, but almost never get a chance. Let's give Jon Ryan and Steven Hauschka a chance, they are funny guys. But nobody cares about punters and kickers unless they do something wrong in the game...
There was a good story in ST last week about Lynch with a lot of quotes from Doug Baldwin and other teammates. They all respect and love him. So do the fans. I really don't care if some reporters don't like him, because they didn't get an interview from him.

You're wrong. And who is talking about "press conferences"? The media meets with him at his locker in the locker room (check out the video of him being an idiot.) All players, except the few idiots, do answer inquiries of the media when asked.
And we're only talking about very limited time periods when the media has access. It's not like he's being hounded or harassed.
And by the way - Richard Sherman is being very disingenuous in trying to defend Lynch.

If all players talk to the media, why don't we hear much from punters and kickers? I read they are rarely interviewed.
Of course Sherman is trying to defend Lynch. He is a teammate. What would you expect him to do?

If I was some how in the NFL man I would get fined all the time too. I would hate having to talk to people after a game or well any time really.

I can see this guy selling his Super Bowl ring on Ebay in 30 years because he blew through his cash or hired Fred Taylor's agent as his own, in turn begging networks for a job and being laughed at.

I read they are rarely interviewed. It is a requirement for athletes of all professional sports to talk to the media. If they choose not to they can and will likely be fined. If someone came up to a punter or kicker to interview them and the reporter were to be turned away, then they would be fined. Also there is never really a reason to interview a punter or kicker unless they just won or lost the game for the team because people dont care what they have to say.
