Quote:Maybe he'll forgive us for not knowing how bad the GMs were at picking talent for his teams the last few years he was here.I was one of the few who didn't want him fired, but did want Gene fired. But even I have to admit, he doesn't seem like an elite coach. Above average? Probably, great like Belichek, probably not.
I'm not going to lie, I wanted him fired too. Boy was I wrong..

Bring back Jack! This can be our new team motto. It sure beats "Next Year."

Quote:Gus is no head coach caliber.
His first and most important decisions were to find his coaching staff.
I think it's safe to say this coaching staff is terrible.
Compared to Gus JDR is JDLombardi

Now - a 4 win season looks unattainable.
Gus will take the Jags to a top 5 draft pick.

Lol. Each year he's here.
Make sure you end this thread with "bring back Jack" lol

I liked JDR. Glad hes on a winning team at least.

When JDR was here the fans were upset because JDR wasn't the guy to get us to the playoffs consistently.
Now we just want someone who can get us more than 1 win in the first 10 games of the season.

JDR would have this team at 7-4 right now looking in on the playoffs
and then drop 5 games in a row
As crappy as the product is I'd rather have the better draft position, maybe this coach or the next one do something with the players.

We should have hired Jeff Fischer... He knows how to win in this stadium.

He was available the year we hired Mularkey.
I wanted, and still want, Jon Gruden. Fisher was my second choice that year. Arians was my second choice the year we hired Gus.
Enough of these projects. Give us a proven successful former NFL head coach.

Not really. Those days, decent players, Koeter, Ketchman. Garrard, Mjd, Henderson, Manuwai. We had a mentally tough Ground and Pound 4-3 cover 2 potential playoff team with resolve and big win potential on any given sunday.

I'd be stoked with a 8-8 or 7-9 Jags team. Seriously
I know at the time, the general feeling was that we weren't going anywhere with Del Rio and those kind of records. But which direction are we exactly going at 2-14, 4-12, and possibly 1-15?
Guy didnt get enough credit for what he did, and thats working with players picked by supposedly the crappiest GM in Jags history

JDR would have this team winning today with a quality GM.
Actually, for all his foibles, I kind of liked JDR. That said, I don't think he's be winning with *this* team, they're just way too young right now. And that's no knock, Vince Lombardi wouldn't be winning with this team right now.

Well, you never know. A few broken glasses in the locker room at halftime might be better than the adjustments we've seen so far.

I know the team is pretty young, but I have lost confidence in Gus and his 5-22 record so far.
From what I have seen so far in those 27 games, I have little faith in Gus going forward.
I really hope I am wrong and that he just needs more time and experience.
That's something I never thought I'd say after Gus got here from Seattle.
C'MON Gus, prove me wrong to doubt you.

JDR is the answer to how you lose a locker room. Players didn't like him and he was not good for anything other than game manager with pound pound pound.
We need to move into the modern NFL.
