With Winston and Mariota coming out, and the Jags holding the number one pick, I think the possibility of a team trading with Jacksonville to jump ahead of another team for one of these QB's is very high.
This year more than the past two years, I think the Jags have the most leverage in trading. If they can move back into the top 5 with another team, I think the chances of grabbing an offensive difference maker (Cooper) go way up, and a boost in picks come with it.
As other years though, I go into the draft fantasizing about trade down scenario's, this year especially though, I hope it happens.
I just don't understand the obsession with Cooper. Wide out is a position of strength and Blackmon will come back to strengthen it. Our rookie pass catchers now are good (with the exception of the slow start by Lee). Even if JB doesn't play a down again for us, it's still the 2nd strongest position group with rookies.
Anyway, I'm going to completely contradict myself and say we should trade back for a D-Lineman. If we stay in the top 5, there's no way that I'd pass on Randy Gregory. If we pick say 10th, I'd go Fowler. Dante Fowler is going to be an absolute star and it's going to be amazing to watch his growth

I'm not sold on our current group of receiver's like everyone else is. Blackmon is a true playmaker, and Robinson is very reliable. Hurns and Lee are still question marks for me.
Cooper is a great playmaker, and that's what the Jags need on offense.
I know the value of pass-rushers, but today the Jags were getting all the pressure in the world on Luck to no avail, because of the offense's inability to produce.
Wideout is not a position of strength. The only wideout we have is Allen Robinson and out for the season. Lee/Ace are suited for the slot and have shown nothing this season. Hurns has had some good and bad moments, but he's already had xp with Fisch's 'offense'. Blackmon is one strike away from never playing again. Our corps has potential, but you can never have too many weapone especially with how turrible our production has been

Robinson looks solid. Lee has not shown anything. Hurns has made a few nice grabs but has questionable hands.
Why does anybody think we are guaranteed to clinch the #1 overall pick? Here is proof nobody should ever make that assumption:
Raiders 1-10
Jaguars 1-10
Titans 2-9
Buccaneers 2-9
Jets 2-8*
Giants 3-8
Redskins 3-8
*Week 12 game against the Bills will be played Monday night at 7:00.
It is mathematically possible for any of these teams to get the top pick of the draft.

Uh, what? You did not see Andrew Luck get sacked a few times? I know I did.

If you read my post throughly, you'd notice that I said "the Jags were getting all the pressure in the world on Luck." Andrew Luck was pressured, sacked, and turnovers were caused. That's a great D-Line.
But what happened after that? Nothing. The offense was anemic. Nothing got done. Drafting a DE would be fueling the same thing. So what if the Jags can get pressure? It won't matter if the offense can't do anything afterwards, which is why I'm on the position that the Jags need to get offensive playmakers in this draft. The Jags need to be able to capitalize on our defense's good work, and right now, the Jags cannot do that.

Remember M. Lee had 118 catches and 1,800 yards with Kiffen as his Coach. Cooper has about the same. Look at Coopers numbers in his other years. We do not need a WR

id like kiffin to come to the jags and bring back some of that magic.

Cooper's not Lee if that's what you're trying to say here.
And yes, WR is a need. Especially after what I saw yesterday.
Receiver is not a need. And it's definitely not a top priority.

What we saw yesterday was not proof WR is a need.

Our receiving unit caught 5 passes as a whole. That's inexcusable.
I heard Ballou on the radio at lunch. He talked about needing a defensive end. Defensive ends scare me...I would love to get an outside linebacker like Mack or Barr that can rush the passer as well as do many other things. That would be the most ideal in my book.

So what? That was ONE GAME against a PLAYOFF TEAM. When talking about position needs, you have to look at EVERY GAME Blake Bortles played in.

Every game? The Jags have surpassed 20 points only twice this season. The Defense does all the heavy lifting.
The Jags need a true game changer on offense, and there's no one who fits that bill besides maybe Blackmon, and he may not play again.
I know its not sexy, but we need to address the O-Line in the first round I think.
Or LBs.
Or the Secondary.
But watch us take a DE like Randy Gregory lol

If you are just looking for a game changer who can help us score more points every week, any offensive position will satisfy you, not just a wide receiver. Not all game changers are wide receivers.

maybe kick bowanko back to guard, take gregory rd 1 if we cant trade down, rd 2 we get a safety or maybe marcus peters, rd 3 you get grasu for center?
stuff like that is possible.
