The one thing that I keep thinking is that someone like Shad Khan doesn't get to be a billionaire by making stupid decisions. Unless he is not paying attention, I think he has to see it and hear it. Ultimately he's the one that can bring change to the organization. I think the front office is doing a decent job. The coaches just don't know how to do anything with the talent that's being acquired for them. I think Khan lets the season play out and makes some decisions. I'm just feeling that he gives them another year to turn it around. I think late 2015 is when they all get drummed out of town unless some dramatic improvement occurs in short order.
If Fisch is still here we'll maybe win 3 games.
Quote:Well since we should have the number 1 pick hopefully we can trade down for a small fortune to a QB needy team wanting Mariota, Winston, or Hundley...and we can address quite a few spots. We need to upgrade our D-Coordinator for sure...The D has looked much better the last 5 or so weeks but it is reported that is because Bradley has been way more involved in the D. I would not be opposed to a new O-Coordinator who can maximize our talent and game plan a little better...but I am not 100% opposed to keeping Fisch either.
The way this team gets better is by Bortles turning into a franchise level QB...that's it...no matter how great the coach is if he can't turn into that franchise level guy we will never get better.
To be honest I am seriously questioning if that can happen at this point...before anyone whines it has been 8 games or so for him...I am not saying he is a bust...but can you name the last guy who had an almost 2 - 1 INT to TD ratio as a rookie that went on to be great?
If we get that 1st pick and can trade it for something big, I see us getting 3 maybe 4 wins, and that's with my teal glasses on.
If not, I see a similar season to this one.
What's it going to be Jags brass??

Khan knows how to make money.
Making money and running and NFL franchise don't have to be mutually exclusive
Quote:How many years do you use that excuse until you realize we don't have the right leadership in place?
I don't know why the reality of the situation is so hard for people to deal with. You could say the fact that the Jags are scoring less than the opponents is "an excuse" for the losses too and it sounds just as dumb.

A trade back for a bunch of picks is the ideal situation for us, but we should really know by now that rookies will not come in and make some big impact. It would speed the recovery, but not save us next year.
I am not doubting that at all SuperJville

This is true. My point is, is that if the man is serious about fielding a winning team and having a franchise that's not a clown show, then he should make the appropriate changes. He's been successful his entire life. Why should this be any different?
Quote:You don't think an additional year of experience will help at all? I think a new coordinator would help. Another draft will help too.
You would, hope, but not if you don't draft the right players. The scary part in my opinion is none of Caldwells top three picks from his first draft have improved in year 2 (Joeckel, Cyp and Gratz). We know from the prior regime if you fail on getting the right guys with your top picks you are in a world of hurt.

An additional year of experience took us from 4-12 to 1-10. That's not the kind of "help" most of us were expecting.

Top draft picks not working out???
Coaching...

Oh, Bortles was on the team last year? My miatake, I thought this was his first year.

My mistake. I didn't know that no one else counted besides Bortles. Carry on.

Too easy to blame it all on coaching. Agree some is but at this point you have no idea if coaching and/or talent.

No, you are right. Other players count, like the defense for example.

Doesn't matter, the team hasn't improved whether he was starting or not. So him not starting last year has no relevance.

I disagree with you. The defense has improved markedly from last year. The running game has improved since the early part of last year. The passing game sucks. The defensive secondary sometimes sucks. If you're saying the team as a whole hasn't improved, it shows you're looking only at the win-loss record which is fine and expected for the fans I guess. Hopefully SK and Caldwell are more forward thinking.

The defense is better. The offense is bottom of the league. The special teams are competing for worst all time.
Overall it's a team that is worse than last year, and maybe even worse than under Mularkey. Try to really consider that prospect for a moment.
The only thing we have is hope that Bortles turns it around, and right now if I wasn't a Jags homer, I'm not sure I could find a compelling reason to believe that is going to happen.
