IIRC, this is where the news of his completion of the program became public... during his statements to the judge during the plea.

Quote:Eh. Biggest hurdle I see is him keeping his nose clean. The football part will be easy for him, even with a year break.

Agree. And that's unfortunately the catch.

Completing the program is a HUGE first (and only) step he's made so far. But given how he's let himself and others down time and time again, I can't help but suspect it was merely a requirement of the suspension and/or reinstatement process that he was compelled to complete either way.

I'm rooting for him and I'd love to see it happen (for him more than for the Jaguars and fans,) but I'm not setting any expectations of seeing him in teal.

I'm pulling for him too. Selfishly somewhat, because IF he returns, BBs value shoots up as well. As does the running game. The guy is that good.

But, I agree, I'm not holding my breath. When you're left with the core of the apple after so many bites, you're not expecting apple pie soon.

But dang it. Doesn't this team and fans deserve some good luck for once? We do.
If Blackmon comes back, it will be a serious WR corps next year. Wish him success in his recovery and reinstatement...

He's available in my dinasty league. Should I take him for next year?

I'm wondering if this has any effect on the timing of his situation...

If he does not commit any crimes in the next six months, the charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct

For instance, he may need to wait until the charge is reduced before the league will re-instate him. If so, couldn't ask to be re-instated until the start of next year's offseason program. Hopefully that's not the case as I'd love to see him return this year.

One of the conditions of reinstatement is to have no drug related offenses for 1 year prior to reinstatement.

Reduction of the charge doesn't change the fact that it was a drug related offense. So I'm thinking July at the earliest.

You're saying you want to see him play for the Jags in 2014?

It'll never happen.

He won't be back until preseason next year.

I have no doubt in my mind he'll be back though pending no more trouble with the law.
I'll be surprised is he ever plays for the Jags again.

A lot of people feel that way.

I'm one of the few that feel he's definitely coming back, and that's ok.
I'm one of the few that thinks he'll be back, but for how long... Fool me once, shame on you... you know the rest...

The charge would be reduced from possession of marijuana to disorderly conduct. The latter charge doesn't indicate drug relation.

It doesn't matter. It was still a drug related incident that he pleaded no contest to. That is all they need to know. Failing a drug test isn't a crime but it is considered proof of being involved with drugs. This counts the same.

So would I.

But I would not mind being wrong here.
Good for JB. It's obvious that the majority of fans want to believe in him. Unfortunately I can't bring myself to share In the optimism. If he ever comes back and plays like a pro bowler I'll cheer for him. Until then I remain skeptical.

This board never ceases to amaze. So if he gets reinstated and returns to playing for the Jags, the team you purport to cheer for, that's not enough to cheer for Blackmon? He also has to play "like a pro bowler"??

Well, Josh Gordon avoided another suspension for his DUI guilty plea - simply got a fine from the league.

This bodes well for Blackmon pleading no contest to his July incident.

If Blackman comes back to play for us, I don't see shorts returning.
I don't have high hopes for him to come back but it would be great if he can come back and play at a high level.

The big question is how much has this time away from football effected him.

Please explain why I should cheer for a bad wr that can't stay on the field? I cheer for the name on the front of the jersey, slick. Looks like you prefer cheering for the name on the back. But that's ok, to each their own. You won't see me question your fan hood like some pathetic MB tough guy.

As for now I cheer for the players that sacrifice to stay on the field, if your boy ever does that, I'll cheer for him. Not a second before that.

I guarantee shorts is on the roster next year no matter what
