I have some of those habits and I'm not unhappy at all..
Most people can't be trusted.. I agree with that. A person can be trusted while people in general are backstabbing and a lot of them thrive on discontent. The article states that people not willing to trust strangers are thwarting their chances of friendships.. Whatever.. Quality over quantity.. Don't need hordes of friends.. One or two really good ones are fine with me.
Life is supposed to be hard and by winning the smaller battles in life, it's those victories that make life worth living and the best way to win the war..

I wish I could show this to my sister, who is not on speaking terms with me. This pretty much describes her to a T and it's sad because it's really done a number on our relationship and hers with our family. We're 2 years apart and I remember when growing up, she would always say she was going to find a rich guy that would take care of her and she wouldn't have to do anything. I was the one who said I never wanted to get married or have kids. I wanted a career and to be independent. Through circumstances, choices and other stuff, neither of us got what we wanted, but I can honestly say I love my life now.
I've always had a pretty positive outlook on stuff (I'm still a Jags fan after all these years) and can see the good or silver lining in most all situations, though I went through some pretty hella bad personal stuff back in 2007-2009 that almost ended me- literally. That kind of trauma can really do a number on you. I don't see things as rosy as I used to, but I don't see myself as a victim. I'm a survivor.
