Everyone OK after today's storms? Pretty sure a small tornado or microburst worked it's way through my backyard and across the street. Lots of large trees split and down but no structural damage. One of my neighbors said he lost some siding and his grill is now in the lake. I guess grilling season is over for him. Hope everyone fared OK.
What area are you in? I'm in Riverside and other than a few branches I haven't seen anything over here.

East Arlington. Kernan and Atlantic. One neighbor said he watched it form and move through my yard. Crazy stuff. I work very close to home so when my wife called I was able to come home and check out the damage. The damage has a very clear path from my backyard to the other side of the street then across the lake and out to the street.

Is stuff kind of tossed willy-nilly in all directions--particularly any trees or large branches that fell--or does it look like everything went down in a straight line?
It was that rascally Tasmanian Devil, I tell ya.

Did you know that some cartoon characters should never have an energy drink?

Everything is laying down facing east which fits what my neighbor said. Apparently it formed and went west to east. The wife said when she looked outside it was just a wall of white and the rain was sideways.
The storm took out our power from 1:45 yesterday afternoon until some time after 3:00 this morning. A house a block from here had an old live oak go right through their 2nd story doing a ton of damage. Other large trees were down, and serious limb damage was pretty wide spread where we're at. My yard, and our entire cul de sac looked like the aftermath of a hurricane. I work from home, so I watched first hand as the winds just exploded through our area, and the rain came down so hard I couldn't see the street 80 feet from my house. We didn't get any tornado action, but having been through the last microburst that happened in this area a few years back, it looks very similar.
Very little damage out my way. A tree here or their was blown down and branches galore were seperated from trees as well. The debris does resemble something major though. It was eary how quick it got dark at about 1:15 and watching it rain horizontally was an eye opener...
I need an storm shelter...
NH3...
I drove over the Dammes Point bridge, southbound, yesterday afternoon while the wrecker crew was trying to get the flipped 18 wheeler back upright. It tipped in the wind just past midpoint and ended up on it's side against the right rail near the north tower. Long ways down to the water from up there. :whistling:
I went by the overflipped trucks right after it happened.there were two of them about a half a mile apart
No confirmed tornadoes in town. Those who have seen a microburst in action know that it's every bit as bad, if not worse. Microbursts do a LOT of damage.

Indeed. After further inspection I'll be replacing one side of my fence next weekend. I am a little ticked that the clean up crews got in and out before I could scoop up some firewood for next year.

Everything facing one direction is more indicative of straight-line winds. If it was a tornado, the damage would be more scattered and laid out in numerous directions. Still, though, a good microburst can do every bit as much damage as a weak tornado, might even be more dangerous because of how big it is compared to the typical EF0 vortex.
