Allen Hurns and Robinson and Blackmon are our future receivers.
What do you see in his game that doesn't translate at all to NFL success?

@JohnOehser: Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts III said Marqise Lee most talented Jaguars receiver in recent seasons with possible exception of Justin Blackmon

the tune from the homers has suddenly changed. when he wasn't getting opportunities, "man Marqise Lee is lost out there and quitting on routes."
now that he is going to play, "hey this guy is the most talented receiver we ever had."

Watching him run down a guy against Dallas after a turnover showed he has good physical talent. He looked VERY fast. So far he hasn't done much, hopefully it changes.

they never throw him the ball

They don't put him in the game very much and he doesn't get the ball thrown his way very much, either. We don't know why that is at this point. If he doesn't have a great grasp of the route trees that could be why, but I don't think it's about talent, so I think sooner or later we'll see him start contributing.

What "homers" said both of those?

John O just tweeted it
I know, Cecil said it, but you can just tell that John O is now going to run with it

I agree we don't really know why that is, but that didn't stop people from saying bad things about him. If I'm Lee, I probably don't appreciate people calling me lazy, a quitter, or too dumb to learn the plays.
Now watch that he actually gets some passes thrown his way, he produces. The truth is that he probably could have done the same thing early on for us like he did in preseason, but he just didn't get the throws. They have been favoring Hurns over him.

We've had quite a large amount of unrealistic expectation for our rookie WRs so far.
Allen Robinson was having a truly exceptional season prior to his injury.
If Lee does practically nothing this season it still won't mean a thing about his long term prospects. Watching him run down that turnover play was enough to let me know he's a guy who merits attempted development.

It's more than just not getting thrown to IMO.
He stated weeks ago that he had lots of work to do to "get up to speed." (< paraphrased)
And Gus stated just days ago that it seemed like Lee had anxiety early in the season and that he seems more relaxed out there lately.
He's a rookie and he's going through the stuff that 98% of them go through. Hopefully he's ready to make a step forward. If he doesn't - I still think the skill is there to be developed for next year. He's obviously a gifted athlete.

I agree, he is going thourgh everything every player goes through... but people were surmising that he was having more trouble than the average player... which probably isn't true. the coaching staff has just chosen to give Hurns more opportunities. I don't think that was the best move, but now at least they are forced to give Lee some action.

Lee is a talented receiver. You can be both talented AND lost at the same time. Especially if you're a rookie who might be somewhat overwhelmed.

John O is the biggest homer of all homers

he's being honest about his teammate. Oesher otoh is now only running with this narrative when earlier in the year people like him speculated that Lee was too dumb and lazy, quitting on routes, ect.
Now that the coaches are forced to give him more balls, OH HE IS WONDERFUL
How "overwhelmed" was he? not any more than most rookie receivers, they just haven't even given him a chance to boost his confidence until now.
11-19-2014, 04:44 PM
I just think this idea of, "he's struggled to learn the plays UNTIL NOW" its total non sense. How many times have we brought in Joe receiver and they play the next week? He has known enough to get some balls thrown his way, which we haven't done hardly at all.

Quote:Think about it.Give me a break with that bs. 141 yards in 10 games as a top 40 player taken sucks
26 snaps. Roughly half of them running plays. So 13 pass downs. As the third (or fourth) receiver - he legitimately gets a look on what? Five of those 13? Maybe. That's not a lot of opportunity.
You're expectations for a rookie are too great. He's had limited opportunity and he's just a rookie being a rookie. When did every rookie receiver suddenly have to have a breakout game in their first season? It's still common for good receivers to have pedestrian rookie seasons.
11-19-2014, 08:31 PM
He will get his chance. I predict he will eclipse 100 yards in at least one game this years
