That is a really weak slate.
No, it's not as solid as it has been. But it's football.
Lots of exciting games last weekend and a few teams got knocked out of the playoff race. May see a couple more get knocked out this week as well.
Vandy at Miss St - Have to imagine Vandy gets rolled. Will be interesting to see where Miss St gets ranked in these new polls tomorrow night. Not completely out of the race. I'll be surprised if they are top 4 but even if they arent, they can still make the playoff. I just dont think they are all that great of a team. As much as people want to make the comparison, Prescott isnt as good as Tebow was. Maybe a better looking passer, but doesnt make the plays.
Charleston Southern at Georgia - CSU actually runs a really unique, up tempo, spread offense that is hard to gameplan for. I saw them play Vandy earlier in the year. Now UGA should obviously roll but I wouldnt be surprised after coming off a huge win that they get off to a slow start. Plus I wonder if there is a bit of mourning over Gurley's injury. Tough break for him. Anyways, I still think there is an offchance UGA makes it to the playoff. If they beat GaTech, whose record looks good, and then beats Bama or Miss St in the SEC title, they'll have a pretty strong collection of wins... even if they do have two bad losses. They'll probably need some help from other teams around the country but they'll have the best resume of any 2 loss team.
other games....
Okie St at Baylor, Colorado at Oregon, Boston College at FSU, Indiana at Ohio St - Home teams should all win. All of them still alive for the playoff. Any of them lose and they are most likely done. Win and they live to play another week.
USC at UCLA - Good rivalry game and has a lot riding on it. I've been thinking UCLA is overrated all year long but there they are controlling their destiny in the Pac12 south. If they win out, they win the division and play Oregon. Has anyone checked out Cody Kessler's numbers at USC this year? Dude is balling! Yet nobody is talking about him. If he stays for his senior year, I bet he is the preseason Heisman leader.
Ole Miss at Arkansas - Hogs finally get that big win. Ole Miss quietly still has division title hopes.
Wisconsin at Iowa - Big game in the Big10 West. Wisconsin riding high after blowing out Nebraska. They control their own destiny. You have tot hink they win this comfortably but you never know.
Minnesota at Nebraska - Gophers put up a fight against the Buckeyes but couldnt pull it off. Huskers may be ticked off and will be ready to play. If the Gophers and Badgers win, next week will be a winner take all to get into the Big10 title game.
Kansas St at West Virginia - Thursday night game. Wildcats still have an outside shot of winning Big12. They need help. And they'll need help winning in Morgantown. Tough place to play.
North Carolina at Duke - another thursday night game. Devils shoudl win. GaTech has finished their conference play. All they can do is wait. They lost to Duke so would lose the tiebreaker. Need Duke to lose this game or next week against Wake. If so Tech is playing FSU in the title game.
Arizona at Utah - Arizona still alive for Pac12 south... althoug hprobably with least likely chance of winning it. They need some help as they dont have any tiebreakers in their favor. First they need to win in Salt Lake which has been tough.
New Mexico at Colorado St - Rams still alive for that BCS Bowl berth! Need some help from the Cowboys of Wyoming to take down Boise this week.
conference races.....
SEC East - Mizzou still has to play UT and then Arkansas. Win both they win the East. Lose either of them UGA goes.
SEC West - 1 loss Bama has tiebreaker over 1 loss Miss St. Bama beats Auburn, they win West. If Miss St beats Ole Miss and Bama loses to Auburn, Miss St wins West. And quietly under the radar, if Ole Miss beats Arkansas this week and Miss St next week and the Auburn beats Bama (all of which are possible) then Ole Miss wins the West
ACC FSU - FSU
ACC nonFSU - as said above, if Duke wins out they win. If they lose any remaining game, GaTech win division.
Big 10 East - Ohio St just needs to beat Indiana or Michigan and they win.
Big 10 West - Wisconsin in drivers seat as only team with one loss. Nebraska, Minnesota, and Iowa all with 2 losses. Badgers play Iowa. Nebraska plays Minnesota this week.
Big12 - If Baylor wins out they win it. TCU needs to win out and hopes Baylor loses along the way. Kansas St needs to win out(which includes a game against Baylor) and then have TCU lose once more.
Pac 12 North - Oregon has won it
Pac 12 South - 4 teams with 2 losses (USC, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona St) UCLA controls their destiny. Too many scenarios. But USC and UCLA play this weekend. Arizona and Arizona St next weeknd. So two will be knocked out for sure. Will most likely come down to a tiebreaker.
playoff races...
will be interesting to see the committee's 4. I'm guessing some combination of FSU, Oregon, Bama, and TCU. Maybe perhaps they leave out TCU and put in Miss St after the Horned Frogs tight win against lousy Kansas. But we'll see.
I still think FSU's luck is gonna run out. Playing with fire too much. You look at their schedule and think they should cruise. But they look like a team on the verge of losing. And their resume looks good as an undefeated. Looks pretty suspect with one loss. And if their loss was in the ACC title game, they'd have no shot.
Oregon should crush Colorado. Next week is the Civil War. Oregon St coming off surprisng win against Arizona St so they arent a pushover.. .and you never know with rivalry games. But Oregon should win. Then they get one more good test in Pac12 title game. Not sure which team in the South they would rather avoid... they did lose to Arizona but I have to imagine they'd love a rematch. I'm expecting Oregon to win out and be a lock for the playoff.
TCU/Baylor - I think one of these two will run the table and will be the selection. Wonder if any scenario where both teams get an invite.
SEC - you can draw up scenario's where no team makes it. If Ole Miss and Mizzou are in title game for example. Take away every team's QB and I think Bama is the best team in the country. They just dont have a QB as good as FSU's as Oregon's as Ohio St's as TCU's as Baylor's etc... And because of that I think Bama could lose before they make it to the playoffs. But if htey win the SEC they are a lock. If Miss St wins the SEC they are a lock. And I still think there is an outside chance a 2 loss UGA makes it. They'd probably need Oregon to lose. And FSU to lose.
Ohio St - If all those teams above win out, I think the Buckeyes are left out. But anybody up there loses, and Ohio St continues to win and look good doing so, will be hard to leave them out.
As far as two teams from one conference. If Bama wins SEC at 12-1. And Miss St finishes 11-1. I think there its very reasonable to think they could get two. May need FSU to lose. Or Oregon to lose. Or even Ohio St to lose. And may need two of those things to happen. We'll see. I also think there is an outside chance the Big12 gets two depending on what happens but seems unlikely.

RFC, did you forget Alabama already lost a game? If they lose again, someone else will go to Atlanta.

I need your crystal ball.
Quote:Samford?
I suppose I'll have to go back to adding "If only to me....", and feel free to add or make your own, again.
Samford-Auburn, for me yes. I follow the Southern Conference and I am curious how they will do against Auburn. Sue me.

Not good is my guess haha. I wasn't sure if it was just an error is why I asked.

I don't have a crystal ball. RFC apparently forgot Alabama already has one loss.
I need Duke to lose to NC on Thursday so GaTech takes the ACC Coastal Division !!!
....rambling wreck from Ga Tech !!
Just went up there for a campus tour (for my son) and took in the win vs Clemson last Saturday.
Last two weeks of the SEC West could be very interesting. Auburn is pretty much out of it, but there's still a three way race between Ole Miss, Bama and Miss State. Honestly, I see the final West standings as Bama, Ole Miss, State. Bama wins out, home field advantage has been key in the last few egg bowls, so I see Ole Miss 2nd followed by State. Obviously Ole Miss has to get past Ark first.
Rivalry Week will be fun. This week everyone in the Top 25 is playing a trap game.
I should have listed Harvard Yale. I see college gameday is there and looks like the Ivy League title is on the line. I was up there for that game a few years ago. Definitely worth the trip for anyone that likes college football. Heck, Cambridge is a fun place to hang out any time. But was great that weekend. Tailgating was surprisingly good too. Was cold!
Minnesota at Nebraska must have been exciting. Every time I checked the score it was close. Did anybody watch it?
