Quote:Colts are in big trouble with no Bradshaw and Allen, they are his 2 favourite redzone options. Also every play run by TRich is basically a waste of a down at this point.
What on earth has happened to the D too? I hope we follow the Patriots game plan and give them a big dose of the run game and double TY Hilton non stop. Think it's 50/50 at this point who wins the division assuming Mallet is serviceable.
In fact I think the Jags have a great shot at beating the Colts coming off a bye
Not sure about "great" shot, considering they blew us out the last time we played them, and we looked atrocious last time we played.
But I do think if we can run the ball, we'll stand a much better chance than we did week 3.
Anybody know Linder's status for the game?
If he comes back, along with Lewis, we should be in a better position to run the ball effectively.
Quote:Bullseye, this has been a great idea (Your AFCS competition, or whatever it is) that you had. I think that if you continue putting this together a few years from now it will have a much larger group of participants.
Someone needs to create a photoshop Lombardi AVI Trophy that the AFCS MB Champion can use for the entire year. Rumbardi? Dumbardi? Whatever it is, I like what you have put together. I wish I had got in at the beginning, so please do this again next season.
I'm glad you enjoy it.
If I continue to enjoy good health, etc., I will continue to post these...though I have to do a better job proofreading.
Quote:I still think Indy takes the division, but I knew Houston was not as bad talent wise as their record suggested last year, and I figured they would have something of a bounce back season. They can still make a playoff run.
On a side note...understanding Bill O'Brien has forgotten more about football than I will ever know, for the life of me I can't understand why they would use J.J. Watt on offense. I know he was once a TE. I know he is an incredible athlete. But there is no way in the world I would risk injury to him over a play in the red zone. That's what 3rd string TEs are for.
I wasn't surprised to see the colts lose, it was a tough game to call but I went with home team advantage. I was, however, surprised by the margin. I guess they're not as ready to be an elite team as I had imagined.

I wasn't "shocked" to see Indy lose.
We ARE talking about the Patriots, here, and though Indy's D had improved, nobody mistook them for the 1985 Bears.
But I figured-incorrectly-Indy would win.
Hopefully, they (Indy) will continue to flash back to the 2005 version of their defense in terms of run defense for one more week.

I guarantee it will not be as bad as Week 3. Think about it: Week 3 was the first game Luke Bowanko started and last game Chad Henne started. Austin Pasztor was out. Two players on defense were cut after that game. Toby Gerhart also was a starter despite a nagging foot or ankle injury. Dwayne Gratz started in Week 3 where Demetrius McCray is now. It also was our first game without Marcedes Lewis. He will return this week. Then there is the fact that players have had time to gel, learn the scheme, recognize where they need to improve, and get better at the fundamentals. We have come a long way in those areas.
But this thread is about Week 11. I will watch MNF and hope Pittsburgh wins.
Quote:This week I'll choose...
Browns over Texans
Steelers over Titans
Patriots over Colts - Note... I'm still undecided on this game and may edit this post in the future to change it.
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Last week 1-1
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Overall 22-10
FULL <b>DISCLOSURE</b>
In my regular "pick-em" pool I changed my selection at the last minute but didn't change it here. I wish I would have stuck to my gut instincts when I initially selected NE to win. I'll be fair and count this as a loss. So far 0-2. Hopefully the Steelers don't let me down.
1-2 this week.
26-9 overall.
I got the last game right, so I am 1-2 for the week. But I was surprised the Titans kept it close the whole time.
This week: 1-2
Overall: 22-13
Tennessee played a closer and better game than I thought.
But I have to say something.
I hate the Steelers as much as the next guy. But that last drive was beautiful to watch. The Steelers needed to run down the clock, and that's exactly what they did. They ate off something like the last 6 minutes just running the ball right down the tacks' throats. Noll and Cowher would have been proud.

Same for me. I wasn't surprised that the titans kept it close, the steelers have played very poorly on the road, and even the Jaguars earlier in the season starting a bunch of green rookies almost pulled off the upset. It's unsurprising that a much more veteran laden team with a coach that's supposed to be as good as Wisenhunt put up a decent fight against a team that has struggled mightily on the road.

But even in Jacksonville, the Steelers were leading at halftime IIRC. And "almost pulled off the upset" is an exaggeration. We lost by nine points.

You can make arguments in any direction you want for a lot of things.
The Jaguars game against the steelers was competitive in the fourth quarter because the steelers were never so far out in front that a comeback wasn't possible. If it had been 30-10 steelers and the Jaguars had scored a couple of garbage time TDs I'd agree it's an exaggeration to say the game was competitive, but it REALLY WAS a competitive game.

Didn't realize 17-9 was 9 points. We were also down only 1 point going into the 4th quarter.
