Quote:Impromptu poll. Would you rather the team address the TE position in Round Two or LB? I feel like the needs are pretty close as far as the team goes, and there would seem to be similar talent at both spots.

Personally, I think I'd rather have a capable TE acquired there.
Well...if we landed Julius Thomas in free agency, then I'd want the LB there.

If neither LB nor TE are addressed in FA...I guess it would depend upon who is available at each spot.

A coin toss choice for me would be Shaq Thompson & Maxx Williams.

Me too, unless they bring in a legitimate starter in free agency. IMO, TE is more of a need at the moment. I feel like we're "ok" at LB but could use an upgrade at 2 of the spots and depth of course. TE, on the other hand, we don't even have a decent starter IMO.
give me Clive Walford in round 3

he's overrated
Quote:Interesting snippet from today's weigh-ins at the Senior Bowl... DP is 2 inches shorter than advertised, at 5'10".

He was listed at 6'0 and cam in a 5'10 5/8. That's not a full 2" and truthfully, I'm not surprised in the slightest. I expected him to be 5'11. Like Chris Borland from last year, he height doesn't really bother him. He shows excellent instincts and his hip explosion is the best I've seen in a long time. He will definitely be a playmaker at the next level. If he fell to the third, 31 teams would be regretting it come September.

I personally don't want Julius Thomas. I mean, I wouldn't be upset with him but I think a guy like Charles Clay would be a much better option due to price and how he would fit in the offense.
Speaking of Sleeper TE prospects in Free Agency, has anyone looked at Rob Housler of Arizona. Bruce Arians does not know how to use him, but he is a stretch the field type of Receiving TE.

Personally, I would love to sign both Charles Clay who is more of an H-Back type TE and Rob Housler who could be a Jordan Cameron type player on the right team. Clay is the dink and dunk guy while Housler will test the Free Safety deep down the middle.

The Jags need somebody to keep the attention of the Safety down the middle. That will make the deep sideline pass a one on one contest and I like Marquise Lee's chances in such a situation.

I also like Lee in the slot with his crossing patterns.

On a side note, it looks to me that the Dolphins will cut Mike Wallace and his 10 Mil/Yr contract.

Wallace could be the Jags deep threat and their No.1 WR opposite Allen Robinson / Justin Blackmon combo.

The Jags must stretch the field and I think Housler and Wallace would help in accomplishing that aim.

Tight end. Telvin Smith showed us we can get a linebacker later.

The Broincos will keep Julius Thomas if they can, so I am not counting on his availability. Even if we do get him in free agency, I would be happy with a rookie tight end because he is not a good blocker.

According to NFL.com, Maxx Williams is the third-ranked tight end, because Devin Funchess and Nick O'Leary.

Now all we have to do is get them to smoke a bunch of dope before the combine.
Mike Mayock: "Perryman, I think is a first-round inside linebacker if he runs well at the combine."

Looks like Mayock is only concerned about Perryman's speed. Perryman could not play in the Senior Bowl because of an abdominal injury, so his 40-yard dash will be important.

I'd be more worried about whether he could actually cover somebody...

Has that been a problem for him?
