If you want to say that mallett has one of the strongest arms in the NFL, I'll give you that. But you say you're not crowning him anything but he has the strongest arm in the NFL, can spread out a d like no other Texans QB.....and like no other QB in the NFL as well. I won't let you have that and you should check your own reading comprehension because you either said what you didn't mean to and don't understand that or you deserve my original comment.

And having the strongest arm in the NFL allows him to spread the D. and thats a fact.

That he has more arm than any QB in Texans history, more facts.

Not sure if he can do it consistently....and yet more facts.

Not sure what your argument is?

The only fact you listed is that he has the strongest arm of any starting Texan QB in their short history.
LOL. Not sure why there is so much debate about Mallett. Let the man get a few games under his belt, maybe even a season. There are threads here like "Who is Andrew Luck" still, we can't possibly know who Mallett is one start into his career.
Quote:Knowing your hot read on a blitz isn't going through progressions.

The way I recall the game was just as I said. If the first option didn't come open and he had to go somewhere else he seemed to get lost trying to go to his second or third read.

I would find that disturbing as a texans fan, considering this isn't a new scheme or system to him.

I would chalk that up to first game jitters more than being lost. He was confident and poised but any QB will have some nerves to work through on a first start. He'll have a big challenge Sunday since the Bengals blitz heavily but the few times he saw a blitz he seemed to handle it well.

Again I'm not getting too excited about Mallett but so far he's made a good impression. I would like for him to succeed, because a division with Andrew Luck, Blake Bortles and Ryan Mallett could be interesting and make the division fun again. But obviously the chances of that happening are still slim.

  Exactly..

I'm looking forward to his ability to get the ball to the receiver so fast. And his release was the fastest in the NFL that week at 2.06 seconds.

He got the ball to AJ six or seven times instead of once or twice, and he involved our tight ends for the first time this season and got a TD out of it.

His stats may not be stellar, but his command of the offense and the way he spread it around was impressive.

We'll just have to see if it continues.
Mallett looks really good today. he really is spreading the defense out like no other.

 21-of-45 for 189 yards

Nothing says "QB of the future" quite like 4.2 YPA.

It's especially funny when you put it next to Bortles' 7.5 YPA against the bengals.
That pick 6 was a thing of beauty.
Anyone else hear one of the commentators tonight drop a little tidbit about rg3 to houston and then refuse to comment on it after the other guy said something to the effect like "he wouldn't say that unless he had some reliable info."

Would be hilarious to see Houston pick up another QB bust.

Deion Sanders is the one that dropped the RG3 to Houston line, I think it was Eisen that made the "reliable info" comment.  I won't claim to have followed Sanders' past declarations, but he just doesn't seem like the one most likely to have some sort of insider knowledge on this stuff.  Not that it won't/can't happen, I just don't believe Sanders really knows anything.

Yeah, its clearly just a rumor at this point but definitely made me laugh
Silly, why would the Texans want a zone-read QB who has no presence in the pocket. I'd take Bradford or Cutler before RGIII.
