Quote:I know, right!  I sure hope we don't take Dallas too lightly.

I don't think we will, but they can beat us with experience.

Quote:I dont think they'll win, but it would be great if they would, I hate the cowpies with a passion.

Totally agree. I even root against the Cowgirls when they play against the Colts, Titans, and Texans.
Quote:If the Redskins can let Brandon Weeden lead a fourth quarter comeback to force overtime, just imagine what we can let him do.
I try never to "imagine" anything from game to game because every game is different. Different match ups different schemes different execution. Every team has a chance to beat any team. To dismiss our team because of how another team full of different players played them is in a nutshell stupid.

I am not dismissing our team, just worried about the possibility.
Is it really a trap game for the Cowboys? I had never heard of a team losing by looking forward to its bye week.

There are at least two posters at the Cowboys official forum that see the potential for an upset. Here's one:

Quote:The Jags game will be tough without a healthy Tony Romo. I understand that they're 1-8, but ksk isn't wrong by saying they're a team on the rise. Blake Bortles is developing at QB, while the Jags finally found a good RB in Robinson. This is the perfect "trap game" for the Cowboys. Here's a realistic way the game could play out:

Tony Romo does not start due to back pain and after being advised to return only after the bye week. The Cowboys start Weeden at QB. The Cowboys have trouble passing the ball and are forced to run a conservative offense. The Jaguars take advantage of this and stack the box (this should sound familiar to you). The result is the Cowboys have trouble moving the ball down the field, resulting in less points scored. The Jaguars' offense follows the the Redskins' formula, which is running the ball repeatedly (which they can do successfully now that they have a playmaker at RB) and throwing high percentage passes while Bortles runs the ball himself from time to time to put the defense off balance. The game becomes hard fought and ultimately puts the Cowboys in a tough situation in the 4th quarter when Weeden HAS to lead the offense to a TD or FG to win the game. How much do you trust Weeden doing that?

The situation I described isn't even the worst case scenario. I would love it if Romo played, but in the long term it could really cost this team if Romo aggravates his injury further. This could be the trickiest game of the season.

I feel the TE over the middle nightmare will rear it's ugly head again for the Jags and will prove too much for Bortles to overcome on the scoreboard.

Missed tackles could also be the difference in Murray running for 95 yds or 195 yds.   Jags have lots of mistakes to correct to make that poster's worries a reality.

It's weird that all the players on a team have their brains connected, and they all focus on the bye week collectively.

"What they don't realize yet is we're not even good enough to beat a backup quarterback." Those are your own words right? If that isn't being dismissive then please tell me what that is?

Our D would have a field day with Weeden, IMO.

The players I am most worried about are Witten, Murray, and Bryant. We can't afford to make any mistakes against them even if Romo sits.

If Romo sits, we stack the box and force Weeden to throw.  Almost guaranteed he'll screw that up!

The line will, but not the defensive backs.

I disagree.  Have you watched Weeden play?  He's freaking awful, we'll chew him up.
Ummm.. We have a history of making average QB's look like Pro-Bowlers.....

Of course I have watched him play. He was not awful against the Redskins.

Finally someone gets it.

Two things.  One, he's not average.  Two, our D has really stepped it up lately.  A little set back against Cincy but i think they are on the right track.  I just hope the injuries don't derail this.
Our D has gotten better and I hope they plant Romo or Weeden in the dirt this Sunday. We shall see.

If there's at least one thing we've improved this year, it's our ability to get to the QB.  I just don't see the cowboys risking additional injury to Romo's back when he could have 3 full weeks of rest by sitting this one out.  While I hope the Jags can pull it off, even with Weeden starting there's more than enough talent on Dallas's O to win. With the way we tackle, Murray alone could have a 150+ yd game.
It seems we tighten up on tackling one week and revert to the goons of the miss-tackle squad the next. It's coming together though and we will become the team nobody wants to play.

The fact that Tony Romo was not ruled out tells me the Cowboys know we are better than our record because of the defense, so it is a losable game without him. Another point somebody made was it will be the first time the Cowboys play a regular season game in London. What could be more embarrassing than losing to a 1-8 team on an international stage?
