hahahaha here we go again.
Quote:Those are all great points but I'm tired of people telling me to temper my expectations. I don't lose in my life and I expect to win, period.

I understand what they're doing and the goals they have, it doesn't mean they're going to work or I'll blindly follow them.

This board seems to be two groups of people, those telling the others to stop overreacting and those frustrated with what they're seeing. If you're not frustrated with what you're seeing, maybe you're a loser. Maybe you don't care about winning, but a lot of people do and 1-16 to start two seasons in a row is about as bad as any team has ever been. And with the way the NFL is setup, it's almost damn near impossible. Improvement? I don't see it.

That said, I'll be there next week and next year because it's what we do. The jags are a big part of our lives, but I am sick and tired of losing.

Flame away.

So because I don't start 10 threads about how much this team and the players suck, I'm clearly not frustrated with the team and I'm a loser? Because I don't pound my fists angrily on the desk and whine and moan, I'm clearly not frustrated with the team and I'm a loser?

You know what "winners in life" don't do? They don't spend a lot of time pursuing fruitless endeavors. What all does it get you to spend hours (or even just minutes) writing up a scathing diatribe of how much Bradley and Bortles suck? You think anyone with any pull in the organization values your opinion? They're going to read your masterpiece that's "keeping it real" and suddenly make a bunch of personnel decisions?

You know what else "winners in life" don't do? They don't spend all their time whining and moaning about stuff they can't change. They accept it and move on. They're too busy winning to spend all their time whining and complaining.

But then again, I'm sure you know all of that, what with all the winning you do and everything.

And you know what? I'm going to guess that pretty much everyone on this board is frustrated and is sick and tired of losing. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. Some of us just choose not to spend our time and energy whining about it.

If you don't lose, chances are you don't do much.
Quote:Yes, we drafted Blake Bortles in the first round this year in hopes of becoming a better team.  I get really tired of the negativity I read on the gameday thread.

Half of you understand, the other half just ridicule the team as a whole and certain individual players.

You have terrible negative nicknames about more than half of the damn roster!

I feel sometimes when I read your comments you'd rather be an [BAD WORD REMOVED] and talk [BAD WORD REMOVED] about the players of "your team" than say something slightly encouraging.

YES!  It's frustrating when we lose, I understand that.  But what I don't understand is how you aren't a realist, and understand that what we have on the field isn't a playoff team.  We have talent on the roster, and the ability to make plays but what we do not have is consistency.  We have gone through some crap the last couple of years and it's very hard to understand why we aren't good, but it just happens.  We are a young franchise with an even younger team.  We barely have a foundation to build on.  We haven't even finished the foundation.  Bortles is merely a start.

Us losing opens up other players for being blamed.  It's why the ones I am talking about have threads saying we need to get rid of Scobee....

Seriously?  We lose a game 33-23 and you create a thread saying we need to cut Josh Scobee?  Get out of here.  You're so confused as to why we aren't winning games that you don't even know what to say.  These losses are going to happen.

Past rookie NFL QB's had early success because they already had Super Bowl caliber teams.

Maybe lower your expectations, and understand that this team, no matter your wildest hopes and dreams, isn't going to make the playoffs just because we put Bortles in.  Yes, it is exciting watching the young guy you hope to be your future franchise QB but we need a lot more than that.  Do you really expect Bortles to come in here and finish the season with 25 TD's to 8-10 Int's?  Just please..stop bad mouthing players and giving them stupid nicknames.  None of you would have the balls to tell either one of them to their face.

I agree with you! I almost don't come onto the board much at all anymore because it's all complaining and gripping about needing to cut everyone. I understand that everyone is so tired of losing and being the laughing stock of the league (although there are a few other teams that should be there with us; Tampa, Oakland, Jets, etc. But we know the media loves to kick us while we're down....). However, we must understand that a complete rebuild takes time, especially with what we had prior to the start. Already calling Bortles a bust, Gus's beheading, Caldwell's boot-to-the-rear, and chopping Scobee's leg's off is beyond ridiculous. We have to give them more time to get a complete roster together.

GO JAGS!!

Not with this team or FO you haven't.
I mean it's not the expectations, it's just that most of the people here don't know much of anything about football and matters related to it. I think about the game yesterday, who did we play? Not the bengals but what player specifically? Our very own Reggie Nelson. I remember back in 2008-2009 everyone was so ready to dump this guy. "He cant play, he can't tackle, he can only read plays drawn in crayon" etc... Now this dude is balling. He balled for us his rookie year. He would have been a top flight player had we held on to him and he was playing in front of this defensive front right now.

All I know is the whole town called for his head and 5 years later looks dumb for it. I've reached a point were I realize most fans just don't have a clue what they are watching let alone know what they are talking about. I will start conversing only with people who have a clear understanding of the game of football. I would suggest you do the same sir.

it is what it is

I think this should be posted in the Cyprien thread as well.
You keep saying You.  Are You speaking of Me or are You pluralizing You.  You seem to make a broad generalization of YOUr thoughts, however YOU don't know what YOU are talking about if YOU are talking about ME.  I think YOU need to go back and re-phrase YOUr post and clarify whether YOU are speaking about ME or some other YOU.

We know this was not a playoff team, but we expect to be somewhere on the path beyond 1 win and heading toward mediocrity.

I'd say going on 7, but with these players?  It's the first year.  It's not fair to give expectations to people when 90% or more of the players here weren't here when we started waiting.

Well said, and so very true.

Your point is well taken - but Nelson did get straight pwned twice yesterday.  :teehee:
