Damn shame. Let’s keep treating would-be patients and even recreational users like violent criminals (or homeless people?). Meanwhile its "GET YOUR BEER HERE" on Sundays, liquor stores on every other corner, cigarettes at the family grocery store, etc.,etc.....They giving their brand of medicine away for free with side effects proven to kill, and telling us we can’t grow a natural alternative that's been used by civilizations for 10,000 years?  Sad.

Preach! People are so quick to knock marijuana as a "gateway drug" or some other negative label, but it is far from it. Less addictive than cigarettes, nowhere near the long term health risks either. It's just frustrating.
Quote:The medical marijuana they are legalizing is low grade THC which won't get people stoned. Good grief, do people not study an issue before forming an opinion? Never mind, I already know the answer.

Are you talking about the amendment, because I don't read that at all. The cannabis required for some conditions is very high in THC. If you are talking about the concentrates from Charlotte's Web, you are correct, but I believe the amendment would have allowed various strains of cannabis.
1. Yes- We need to stop building into, and disturbing wildlife.

2. No- Weed only masks a person's condition, not treat it.

3. No- The governor should not be the sole person responsible to fill judicial vacancies.

Quote:Of course I never heard of pill farming - because there is no such thing. Pills are only made by scientists in labs.

Wrong

Pills are grown in the farm.
Quote:Obviously you've never heard of pill farming or doctor shopping. People can and will get around control measures put in place. I don't, but I knew people in my past who did. Folks can be resourceful when they want something bad enough.

I always look at pill farming as high class drug dealing.  You think the DEA would have took note after the crack epidemic, that once you bust a pill mill ring, another one pops up.

Heroin is the new cheaper drug of choice now, so the pill mill activity will drop off now.
Just heard on WOKV that they are trying to still push the medical marijuana, saying it was worded incorrectly.  They said it's still could be legalized if they drafted a new vote, or something, I can't remember how they were going to do it.  I don't like this.  The majority of people have spoken, and they didn't get the result they wanted, so they are trying to legalize it any way they can.  I know I'm in the minority, but come on.  The people have spoken, deal with it.  Flame on...

The majority did vote for it 57% it didn't reach the 60% needed to pass.

Not surprised.

Seeing that there are about 2 dozen new billboards around Jax advertising Medical Marijuana workshops, this is a agenda that will not go away soon.
Are they trying to bring in those businesses to Florida?  Is that why they are pushing this?

There was conventions advertised on the Orlando radio stations a few months ago about medical marijuana business opportunities. People where paying to learn the in and outs of licensing how it's worked in other states, getting grow permits, getting approval cards and setting up clinics. Absolutely it's a big business.

Yes.

It alleviates symptoms of untreatable diseases. Muscle spasms, nausea from AIDS and chemotherapy, chronic pain.

In the case of chronic pain, narcotics mask it, cannabis alters pain receptors with much less "high" effect. In fact, the high from THC has been proven to lessen over long periods of repeated use.

This. Folks with MS benefit from it greatly. I figure if you have an untreatable illness or disease that seriously cripples you mentally and/or physically, and medically prescribed pot helps.....well I just don't see a problem with it.

It dosent cure, again it simply masks the pain and side effects.

regular herbal (legal) medicine, and or therapy can take care of many of the conditions you list.
Yes, the THC level in medical marijuana is so low it's not a strain of weed that get's one high.

Should all medications that do not cure and only mask symptoms be banned or nah because they are not pot?
For me personally, I voted "yes" on the bill.

I really don't care if medical marijuana makes a person "high" or not.  For me that would be kind of hypocritical since the beer that I like to drink makes me "high" or better worded, in an altered mind.  I happen to know of the case where using it has helped some people.  More specifically, when my sister was going through chemo-therapy for Leukemia, it did help her.  Her's is not the only case that I am personally aware of.

Have you ever been through the trauma that is chemo-therapy?  There really is no "legal" prescription drug that will do for a patient what marijuana will do.

Especially in those who have liver conditions because the body cannot metabolize opiates without the liver, so traditional pain therapies don't work once liver function starts to deteriorate.. It's a horrific way to live and die.
