Quote:So he is afraid of losing his job by criticizing Pacific 12 officials? That does not make any sense.

How doesn't it make sense?  He works for FOX and the Pac-10 has a deal in place with FOX.  Lets put two and two together.

Part of his job is saying officials were wrong about something. He does not defend everything officials do at NFC games. So he should not fear losing his job by criticizing Pacific 12 officials.

This is the real world....if someone is paying a television station boat loads of cash or they are in cahoots on a deal, they will be less likely to criticize.

There are numerous articles out there about how horrible Pac 12 officiating is.

My point is criticizing officials would be just doing his job, what he is being paid a lot of money to do. There is no reason to get paid for that, then not do it.

... No. I doubt he's afraid of losing his job at all. He bags on the SEC because the Pac-12 honks want him to do so.

Fox hired him, not the Pacific 12.

A couple people have explained the exact reason why he rips the SEC, but you dont want to accept it....ok then.

What I don't understand is why he can't criticize Pacific 12 officials when that would be just doing his job. It has nothing to do with whether he rips SEC officials or not.

Come on man

Do you understand that they give a lot of money to the Pac 12?  They dont want to hurt that product....in fact, they want to build it up....so telling them their officials are not good (and they arent) would not be good for business.

I have heard Mike Periera enough during NFL games to know he does not always defend decisions or actions by officials - people who used to work for him. So I have no reason to believe the Pac 12-Fox deal prevents him from criticizing officials in that conference.
The NFL is a darn-near untouchable brand. The Pac-12 isn't even in the same universe. They, and FOX by extension, have to pull crap like this because the conference is an afterthought when it comes to college football much like the Big-10 while the SEC gets all the headlines for being the best conference in college football.
