Just thinking about the teams ranked near the top of the polls who are in the hunt for the playoff....

Oregon over Michigan St.  Although Mich St was ahead at halftime.  And the yardage discrepancy was basically nothing.  Oregon just made more plays in the 2nd half to pull away and won comfortably by the end.

Auburn over Kansas St - On the road.  And Kansas St is turning out to be pretty good.  Dont look as pretty as other teams but play hard and smart and keep winning comfortably over teams they should.  We'll see how good KSt is after they play Baylor and TCU.

FSU over Notre Dame - Home game.  This is a tough one because Notre Dame could have won that game.  And outplayed FSU for a large portion of the game.  Just couldnt pull it out in the end.  And there is still the question of how good Notre Dame is.  Their schedule hasnt been as tough as you would have thought early on.

Bama over West Virginia - "Neutral site" game but easily more Bama fans in attendance.  WVU is a sneaky 6-2 with the other loss to Oklahoma.  But is WVU really that good?  Their Baylor victory is what they are hanging their hat on.  And I was surprised with how easily they dispatched Oklahoma St yesterday.

Georgia vs Clemson - I'm including the Dawgs because if they win out, they are in the playoffs.  This was a home game.  And they dismantled Clemson.  But the Tigers were still playing Cole Stoudt moreso than Watson at this point.

Ole Miss vs Boise St - "Netural site" game but more Ole Miss fans.  Boise St isnt the same team they used to be.  Although good chance they cruise to a MWC championship again.

TCU vs Minnesota - believe this was a home game.  And TCU rolled.  But Minnesota just isnt that great... was playing better than most thought but their lost yesterday really takes some shine off this win.

Best loss.... Probably Notre Dame's loss on the road to FSU.  Outplayed them for a good chunk of that game.  And coulda/shoulda won.  I wanted to say Kansas St losing to Auburn.  Close game.  But Kansas St made some unusual mistakes that they usually dont make.

Bad losses...  Ohio St losing to VaTech.  I get it they were still breaking in a new QB.  But VaTech just isnt very good this year.  Really bad loss.  I'm not sure I could take a one loss Buckeyes team Big10 champ over a one loss SEC West runnerup.

I'd say Oregon and Auburn have the best.

I also think the weak out of conference schedule could hurt Mississippi State if it comes down to it.

i would definitely say oregon.

Allow me to put in the homer vote for FSU.

If FSU does lose a game, the only reason they have a shot at the playoff is because they have OK State, ND, and UF on their non-conference schedule. No other contender has put together a tougher non-conference schedule that I've seen. (Yes, I know UF is no good this year, but intent of scheduling does matter according the committee's written criteria)

TCU-Minnesota?

Ole Miss -Boise St., I don't think so either.

Georgia over Clemson sounds good, but Clemson is just ok. Nothing special at all.

You hit on all the ones of significance though.
Oregon probably has the best win right now.
When MSU went to Oregon and lost, it seemed like everybody was talking about that game. It was the Game of the Week - two Top 10 teams expected to win their respective conferences.

Then while watching the OSU/PSU game, I saw MSU has one loss and wondered who beat the Spartans because nobody talked about Oregon beating MSU after Arizona beat the Ducks.

Does anyone else get the feeling that when Oregon lost a game, its win over MSU became less impressive? Arizona's upset at Oregon put a damper on that achievement, which could have easly been a Rose Bowl preview.
