Well, I would think THE AFC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK would by all rights earn a starting position at some point in the very near future.
Because to have a rookie, who is not a starter, earn defensive player of the week for the entire AFC has to be pretty rare.

Definitely. And with J.T. Thomas moving to the middle, that should be much easier. We got a real gem in the fifth round.

Good for him. The Jags defense has risen, and I hope Telvin keeps it up. I think he will be starting real soon. If not this week.

I really liked Telvin from the senior bowl. Was really happy we drafted him, and his speed from the weak side has the potential to be destructive.
Good to hear about him spending film time with Poz and everyone says what a high football IQ he has.
I really don't think the weight "issue" is even an issue. His general positioning seems to be extremely good, which is half the battle.
Our draft picks this year have all done well, big thumbs up Dave

I am sure it helped that we coached at the Senior Bowl.
No doubt spending time with Posluszny is one of the reasons he earned more playing time Sunday. Poz will keep meeting with Telvin as much as possible.
J.P. Shadrick implied if you are talented enough, your weight does not matter. The importance of weight apparently is overrated for outside linebackers.
Except two of them have not played yet. As much as the Andre Branch and Alan Ball injuries hurt, it will be neat to see the whole draft class on the field together.

It is too early to declare Telvin Smith an upgrade at the position, but the Poz injury should guarantee more playing time because J.T. Thomas moved inside. However, I think Caldwell picked a good LB in the fifth round.

Craziest part?
They looked back on the film and found a lot of plays he missed on as well, being out of position, etc.
It's going to be fun watching this kid grow into himself.
It's great watching guys like this step up, but that still won't make up for all of what we've lost. But with the experience gained, we may be better off in the long run.

Good for Telvin Smith. I surprised that he won solely because he is on the Jaguars roster. Glad he was recognized.
Like the sig. Wish I thought of using that.

Obviously the people who vote on that award don't care if he makes the big plays that helps us win the game.
Everything happens for a reasozn. Just like losing Dwayne Gratz for one week helped us figure out Demetrius McCray is a better cornerback the Poz injury will help other linebackers get the playing time they need for coaches to evaluate them better. Don't get me wrong; of course the whole defense will miss Poz. But Telvin Smith will get a chance to earn the starting job.

I was surprised because he is a special teamer and backup. In fact his fumble recovery was on special teams.
I had to watch the postgame speech twice to hear it correctly. The first time it sounded like "We need victory."
