Caldwell joins Daniel Jeremiah's podcast on nfl. Com. Skip ahead to the 25 minute mark. He talks Blake, Telling, and trades. It's worth the ten minutes. Oh, and he mentioned that the pools will be closed this weekend. Sounds like poo in the pool!

Poo in the pool? Damn Browns fans....
Nothing all that interesting. Good to hear from Caldwell though, hes usually pretty quiet during the season
He mentioned that now that we feel we have a franchise QB we will probably be more active in FA to help build around him.
haven't we been active in free agency under him anyway? how much more active can we be?

I'd be interested in one of our message board GM's early take on what Caldwell might do in FA for 2015.

More active as in go after more expensive/riskier signings and spend more money.
More active as in pay to win and not worry about guys making it through a 4 year contact.  It is the plan to cement the present and build the back end through the draft.

He did say that Telvin Smith is a guy the coaches lobbied for a lot during the draft, which was pretty interesting.

I think he means actively targeting higher-tier players. Up until now, with the exception of Mack, his targets have all been more along the lines of sleepers or capable veterans than a swing for the fences.

I wouldn't really consider signing guys like Beadles and Gerhart taking a swing for the fences.

On the other hand, I can't really see them being that aggressive unless high quality player of need hits the market which isn't a certainty.

Someone actually took the Browns to the Superbowl?

Based on what he said we are gonna be very active. It's impossible to to know exactly who we are going to pick up but they will be giving a lot of offers out. The Jaguars will be desirable landing spot next year for the FAs.

Why would you wish that on yourself?

Quote:JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars are closing their much-ballyhooed pools for one game this season.

The Jaguars will shut down both pools in the north end zone and the eight surrounding cabanas for their Oct. 26 game against the Miami Dolphins.

The Jaguars made the decision to facilitate the annual Florida-Georgia game, which will be played Nov. 1 at EverBank Field. The six-day turnaround between games would have been too close to guarantee installation of 7,000 temporary seats in the north end zone.

Speaking of Mack, is he available again this year due to the contract we offered?

Would you try to sign him again, or stick with Bowanko who I think has done an above average job for a rookie centre

The contract we offered has no bearing on his availability.

If your draft pick shows promise, stick with him.
Oh ok. I was under the impression that they had to exactly match the contract we offered. Which contained a 1 year option for Mack to leave

I'm happy with how Bowanko is progressing though
Sounds like everybody is staying for the long haul. It also sounds like we may go after a big name free agent(s) in the offseason.
