Full Version: Hmm. O-line might be more stable than we thought.

Quote:I haven't got to see any of your games. That being said, Jacksonville has given up a league leading 29 sacks. Also telling is the 3rd worst 86 yards per game rushing. Has it been prior to the last 2 weeks that makes up the majority of those numbers? On paper, that is just terrible O-line play. Horrible.

No one's doubting that there were struggles. The hope is for improvement going forward. And looking at statistics that were skewed by some really horrendous performances (including by those who are now either on the bench or on another team) have nothing to do with whether the OL is improving.
Quote:I know I'll get hammered for this, but I don't see LT as being settled yet. Understand this is basically his rookie year, but going back and watching the last few games, Luke is playing horrible! He is so unsure of his ability to block one on one that he has resorted to falling to blocking at the knees of defenders in pass pro. I can't count how often he has been beat across his face (front) He is playing so weak and unbalanced you would think he's hiding an injury. His run blocking isn't much better as he typically whiffs or runs by his assignment. It would be interesting to see play success left versus right.

I don't know how you can say he played bad against CLE.  granted it was against inferior competition, but... he played good
Quote:Dion Jordan has been nothing for them (Dolphins) ....a huge disappointment....

That better stay that way this week.

He's had off the field issues with the team.  This weekend will be his first game back from a 6 game suspension.  Their DE rotation has been pretty decent without him so honestly there's no reason to rush him.

Quote:Holy smokes. Henne got hammered. The 4 games since is respectable. I see. Has the rushing output improved also? I'm going to go back and watch your Cleveland game.

Yea, Henne got sacked 10 times in Washington.  That game skews the sack stats a little bit since more than half of them were on Henne holding the ball and not moving in the pocket.

The running game improved a lot last week but it was against a banged up Cleveland Dline so I'm going to be hopeful but not too crazy over our rushing game yet.  I think we had over 180 yards of rushing and 2 rushing TD's against Cleveland.

He's really a LB. Eventually the coaching staff will figure that out. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play in the game at all. He won't be a factor either way. He is probably the 6th best QB rusher on the team. Miami is stacked at the position.

Go back and watch the game and concentrate just on him. It was rough and it force Bortles out several times. Even sliding a TE over there did no good. I will say second half was a bit better for him.

That's what I thought when he entered the draft as well. His only great fit is as a 3-4 OLB. He's a tweener/misfit in a 4-3.

I agree. He is not built to play with his hand in the dirt. He is very capable of covering TEs. He is not being used properly in my opinion. Coaching staff has proven to be stubborn.
Do the fins have anyone that can pressure up the middle? I haven't notice any coming fro other than the edge. The line looks a bit undersized. Of course just basing this off two games.

That's where Marcedes is invaluable.  Having him in the set means you he can chip, run block, and also throw to him.

Harbor is a fine receiving TE, but he doesn't give you anything much for blocking.
I'm sorry TC, but we were never taking an o-lineman with our first pick anyway. Not where we'll be picking because you don't take guards, centers, or right tackles that high. Based on early projections, I think we take a WR, DT, or DE. Their won't be an LB worth taking top 5. Not yet, although we have a long ways until the draft so anything can happen. Maybe someone steps up.

Don't take this a homerism because I'll tell you things we suck at. That being said, the D-line is arguably the most talented and deep in the league. We have 3rd stringers that would start on other teams. It is the biggest strenght on the team by far.

I honestly don't even care anymore where they pick a player.  As long as it's not any type of kicker or long snapper I don't care where they're drafted.  If they want to pick a guard in the top 5, you won't hear me complaining about it if he dominates the position.  If they take a LB in the top five and he ends up like Luke Kuechly I'll be extremely happy.  Really don't care.  Just get good players and let the coaches coach them.
Its not what we thought, its what they've shown us. And the first handful of games they played like dog vomit.. Plain and simple..

Cleveland is ranked #29 on Rushing Defense.

Miami is #7 so this will be a great test for our OL

I'll believe it when we aren't 32nd in the league in sacks given up and 27th (EXTREMELY SURPRISING) in rushing yards.

I'm hoping they give up on him and we can pick him up in the off-season for our OTTO. He seems to be a perfect fit for that position.
