Quote:I agree, we should add a monster like Suh. Just imagining Suh and Marks in the middle means zero running game up the middle. We are already improving we are just missing small pieces to the puzzle and upgrading the DL with 1st round pick and Suh signing means a long way for the Jaguars!

I just don't see the Lions letting Suh go

The Bucs are not letting McCoy go.  These guys are too good to be letting walk free into FA.  If anything they'll be franchised.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I must be drinking some of that Gus juice.   I don't think we need to spend big on the DLine.

If we spend $$ we need to make a hit on a clear weakness of this team and that is LB (and maybe OL)

I think it is very unlikely that Detroit can re-sign both Suh and Fairley.  Fairley would also significantly upgrade our DL.

I'm laughing at those of you who think that (a.) Suh would even consider signing with the Jaguars and (b.) the Jaguars would want him in the first place.

Clemons, Suh, Marks, and Bryant is a pretty feirce Dline with Branch, Miller, Hood, and Alu-Alu as the backups.

You could say the same thing with just about any FA....  not sure what your point is.

if they had to choose, im sure Fairley would be the one to go, but teams usually find a way to keep their elite talent

Isn't Suh more of a 3 technique guy?

Guys like Fairley, that struggle with effort and laziness, and then all of sudden play well in a contract year are scary.
.... SUH WOULD NEVER COME HERE.   LIVING IN THE GHETTO CAPITAL OF THE WORLD (a.k.a. DETROIT) IS EVERYONE'S DREAM.

..... where else can you buy a block full of empty homes for a total of $150,000

..... where else can you find the football history that includes 7 PLAYOFF WINS IN 80 YEARS.

Of the three DTs you listed only Fairley plays the same position as Miller, the others are similar to Sen'Derrick. That said, I wouldn't trust giving Fairley a ton of money in free agency. He's playing out of his mind right now, but there was a reason Detroit declined his rookie option.

Could Suh play the 5-tech? Then you could have a D-Line of Clemons-Marks-Miller-Suh with Branch, Hood, Jones, and Davis. Not too mention a high draft pick (Randy Gregory or Shane Ray?).

Yes.

He wouldn't fit in our scheme unless he's replacing Marks.
Guys,

Honestly I don't want Suh on this team. Yeah he is a great DT, but he is a s**t bag of a person. I don't want to watch his cheap shots in a jags uniform. Just my .02
Bring him back at a reasonable salary.  I think our defensive line is currently together better than the sum of its parts.  You can let a guy like Miller walk and he won't do as well in another system because its the system not the players.  I'm speaking strictly for our d-line group.  Everyone in that group is just a guy but the system lets them trust and play together.  Quite well might I add.

I do love how every week the broadcasters gush over our ferocious defensive line.  Doesn't get old after how piss poor it has been in recent history.

Assuming Miller keeps his play up, it just makes sense to bring him back. We know fits the scheme and can be successful in it, not to mention he's only 27 years old. He won't command the same dollar amounts as the big name free agent DTs and we could use the money elsewhere in free agency.

If he continues to play like he has to his point the team should absolutely bring him back. IMO he has been the lynchpin of the whole defense. He has refused to be blocked by one guy and has even gotten penetration and made plays. By Miller playing at a high level the middle of the D is strong and is forcing teams to adjust their game plans.

If you really pay attention to Miller he his playing lights out. I'm hoping he can keep up the good work

Suh would be best in Marks position, but would play Millers position here as he could play both at a very high level.

Players not plays.
Suh isn't only fitted to play the 3-tech. Put him in Millers part and he would be the same destructive DT he always has been. We need nasty playmakers like him, its defense guys. Look at the way Seattle plays, you can say Sherman is a dirty player every down but thats what defense should be about. Play clean with a hard hitting tackles. If your worried about hitting him clean, give up because hitting hard like Suh is what causes turnovers, and thats what we need. I love to see Suh here but like everyone said, I doubt he enters the FA market. I'm pretty sure if they resign Suh Fairley will be there but I might as well sign Roy Miller to a 2 year deal instead of paying Fairley who seems to play great maybe due to the fact how Suh plays. I really want them to bring in KJ Wright from Seattle, what do you guys think about KJ Wright, he is a LB but playing MLB because Bobby Wagner is out.
