This is another example of us fans thinking that every play someone gives up means they are terrible, and that there is some team in the league that's corners or safety's don't give up completions or make every play.
Good point. The difference is the secondary is starting to give up fewer big plays than they were earlier in the season.
In today's game, it a given you'll give them up sometime. What's encouraging is that we're moving in the right direction.
Re-watching and taking notes on the secondary. Here's what they gave up in the first half:

gave up quick slant in red-zone by playing it safe - protecting the possible fade route - turned out right play as browns settle for FG (6yds - 1st and goal)

McCray seems like he has been on point since being inserted into the starting line-up. A few catches here and there but nothing back breaking. Since Pittsburgh game, the defense has taken HUGE strides in both running and passing D. Excited to see them grow together and see the finished product by the end of the year.

Thanks for the time and effort to give us an excellent picture. I went onto PFF to get a different look at how the kids are doing in comparison to the rest of the league and some familiar faces.
Cornerbacks PFF lists 104 that have had a significant number of snaps.
McCray 35th
Ball 43rd
Gratz 54th
Blackmon 96th
Rashean Mathis is 26th and Darrelle Revis is 29th
Safeties PFF lists 82 with a significant number of snaps
Cyprien 45th
Evans 67th
Of the old friends, Dawan Landry is 19th, Reggie Nelson is 27th and Dwight Lowery is 43rd.
Given that these numbers reflect the year so far and include the numbers from the terrible start the team has had, the kids look pretty good overall. The concern has to be free safety and it is a critical position for the type of defense the Jags play.
Evans is serviceable most of the time but isn't the answer.
