He will have to tighten it up at some point, but then again, so do a lot of other players. It is all relative.
Things will get better. Lots of very green rookies earning their stripes.

Bortles is the best rookie QB I have ever seen. The picks don't matter, this guy is the real deal.

Again let's slow the roll on him not being a franchise QB

Agree. These are mistakes he needs to make, and you can't make them sitting on the bench.

I can definitely live with the INTs. He is testing defenses and as a result will learn what he can and can not get away with.
Goobert, would never take any risks, and in his 3 years as QB he learned NOTHING about how to attack a defense. To compare the two QBs based on INTs is asinine.

I just wish our OC would create a GAMEPLAN.
It seems like he just picks plays out of a hat. There never seems to be any cohesion or momentum from play to play and drive to drive.
But as far as BB5, I'm not even worried. Though the last INT was pretty ugly, he's a rookie. I'm not worried

Blake Bortles is the franchise Qb for this team. He had a bad game. He is trying to do too much. Favre would throw 4 ints a game and come back and dominate the next game. With a gunslinger that is what you are going to get.

Are you kidding me the best you've seen? Stop me if you heard of these guy
Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, RGIII, Matt Ryan all had. Better rookie seasons.

Quote:And to be realistic, we have won exactly zero more games with Bortles than we did Henne.
I love Bortles. I think he'll be fine. I am just laughing at the losers who thought that replacing one player was going to fix an entire team.
I haven't said anything to the contrary. I know some are already hard at work spinning it, but the fact is that they were just a tad bit off with their assessment for the blame of the defensive woes.
We could have one more games with Bortles. We will never know...

I'm excited about Bortles, but he does make some dumb mistakes.
Luckily he's a rookie and he appears smart enough, so hopefully he clears some of that up.

The first pick, hit as he throws could have sailed perfectly, gone harmlessly incomplete but just happened to float nicely for the pick
second pick, that's something you learn by seeing more and more looks so that's time
third pick, everyone lost their minds about but I wasn't that fussed I am pretty sure he only saw the defender in front moving up to meet him so he went to shorts to try guarantee the first down not seeing the corner lurking on the play.
It was a bad read no doubt but I can sort of see how much pressure is on blake not to mention what he puts on himself, you could tell that by his press conference, he was gutted. He is a rookie and a competitor desperate to win and he has had to put the team on his back these last few weeks with no running game and the defense doing a good impression of a wet paper bag.
I hope seeing the team essentially carry him today with 3 picks will relieve some of that pressure and give him faith that he doesn't necessarily need to force these plays that it's ok sometimes to go through his reads and just check it down.
I think that will cause a natural drop in his ints and also help him stop staring down his primary read so I would rather keep letting him air it out and not restrict the exciting gunsligner we currently have

Exactly. Plus he's a rook. He learned what he can and cannot force
10-19-2014, 08:27 PM
Wasn't his best game, but the guy is a rookie with mulitple rookies starting along side him on offense. Mistakes are going to happen, granted he had zero business throwing that pass in the redzone on his scramble. Atleast we have been competitive in all his starts, which wasn't even close to the case before he was starting.

Quote:Again let's slow the roll on him not being a franchise QBWhy don't we just tell it the way it is then? He's a rookie. He appears to have all the skills, but he also made a couple of terrible decisions today. That part of his game needs a lot of improvement. We all hope he'll become a true franchise QB, most think he will, but he needs to show a lot more on a consistent basis to be worthy of the label.
