So Rugby League superstar Jarryd Hayne has randomly quit to pursue his dream in the NFL anyone think he has a shot? I think special teams is probably his best bet (But still a longshot) Check out some of his highlights.

I hope we give him a shot. Yes, the Jags. It'll be cool to stick him at FB and see what he can do on goal line situations
I think he could be a decent return man, not lightning quick but could easily burst through some tackles. Also with his tackling and general ball skills he could probably be a stud special teamer. Not sure he translates to a traditional position, unless with the right training he can get faster. As he is currently built for endurance rather than the short bursts of speed like NFL runners.

I could see him being a really good edge rusher.  He'd have to put on a few pounds, but he is really quick for his size.

He's ancient in terms of an nfl rookie. I don't see him ever being an impact player.
Maybe we should have picked him up ...

The closest he'll get to the NFL is Canada.

Have you seen him play? Even looked at game highlights? Even if he somehow doesn't make the 49ers, he's a waiver claim for a team that isn't sold on its returners.
Also hate to break it but he's playing for the 49ers at the moment in what I believe is the NFL...

He's trying out to play in the NFL. He has yet to play in the NFL.
Was that the dude with the fake girlfriend?

That's funny. I could've sworn I'd seen him wearing a San Francisco 49ers uniform, returning kicks surrounded by other men in San Francisco 49ers uniforms, and trying to evade men in Houston Texans uniforms while at a stadium that looked a whole lot like the one Houston plays in. Is there some kind of Bizarro NFL out there? Is Hayne part of it.

So you're saying the season has started and he's made the team?

I'm looking for all of the records on guys who've played in training camps and I can't seem to find them on NFL.com...were those 'NFL players' somehow inadvertently omitted.  Until he plays in the regular season, he is not an NFL player.

He's made more plays on punts than Jags have in about the last 5 years combined.

So using your 'logic', every minor league baseball player that's every compiled a stat in spring training is a 'major leaguer'.  Interesting.
Looks like he made the team. Quite impressive for a guy who had never played before.

Good for him!  I was rooting for the guy.

And to me this is more proof that, barring a few positions like QB, pro football, more than any other sport, allows one with very little experience to walk on to the field and be effective if you have the natural athleticism.  All sports require a minimum level of talent, but experience and practice seem to weigh a lot more heavily in basketball, baseball, soccer, etc....  In the NFL, if you have size/speed, you can walk on to the field and be effective very quickly.  It really is a sport for only the physically elite.
