Just an astonishing low number through 6 games in today’s pass happy NFL, the New York Giants are leading the league with 48, they also have a dominant cornerback duo in Prince Amukumara and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The Cincinnati Bengals have 40 in 5 games. Passes defended is one of the most important defense statistics as it shows the competency of your secondary, we simply don't have guys in our secondary (specifically at CB) that are of breaking on the ball. I know the offensive line is a problem but the secondary might be a bigger issue, if this team plans on competing in 2015 it will need to find players that are capable of getting their hands on the ball. The teams that are in the top half of the league in passes defended usually make the playoffs.

That is just depressing.

But we can get sacks this year. Look guys. We can't have both. *insert sarcasm*
I expect FS or CB in the first round this year. Caldwell will tell us he was the BAP as well.

The 4-3 Cover 3 scheme only works if you're pressing the wideouts which we haven't been.
Surprised it's so much. Can't recall 5
Corner is one of our weaker positions, but teams throwing all over us is a result of the linebacking.  It's between the numbers where we are being beaten.  We have the worst oline and linebacking units in the league.  Our corners are just below average.

giants also got shut out last night, something the jags surprisingly didnt have happen to them

Exactly! When you're playing a soft zone with your safeties and LBs and you have your CBs 5 yards off the LOS and then instantly backpedaling on the snap, you're not really in the position to make a play on any ball...

Yes, our secondary is bad. But playing a prevent style coverage scheme only compounds the problems.

Babich hopefully has figure this out and we'll be more aggressive moving forward.

How is getting shut out have anything to do with the topic of this thread? LOL

Why would he say that Caldwell is supposedly a needs drafter? Which is why the joeckel pick was kind of surprising
This is both depressing and embarassing.
Do batted balls at the LOS count?

Turnovers are more important. The winner of the turnover battle usually wins the game. You can't say that about passes defensed. We need the back four to get the ball in their hands, not just hit it.

All other picks were need-based. He went BAP only one time.

I would guess in reference to the OP about the Giants leading the league in passes defended?
