Hello,

Looking for a bit of advice really, my wife and I will be going to our first NFL game, I'm from Ireland so just started following this season, she is a Dolphins fan, so I kinda adopted it too, will that be a problem? will be going to the browns game, but cheering on the Jags  - hoping we will get to see a bit of Johnny Manziel....getting sacked lol

I'm just wondering if it will be a problem, us being Dolphins fans, but cheering on the jags - I'm only visiting for a couple of days and said we'd drive up to Jax as we loved it when we went to the country superfest! Really liked the everbank.

I am guessing parking is going to be a different more difficult beast, we are staying in Orange park, so plan on driving in. I kinda wanted to get the tailgate experience, but never done it before don't know whats involved, just show up and drink beer? We only have a CR-V, not a truck though, will there be trouble if people find out we are not Jags fans? I want to go for the experience and make a day of it

So any advice would be brilliant, on parking, tailgating, fans and cheap jerseys for the game!

Thanks guys

Tim

Here's my suggestion.

Go to Academy Sports and buy some Jaguars shirts.

Go to Publix and get some chicken or subs.

Park in the Fairgrounds. It's a great tailgate scene and is right next to the stadium.
You won't have any trouble. Others will address the details but rest assured, you will be fine. Plan to arrive early (before 10 AM) and have a beer or two and then another beer and a sandwich after the game while the traffic clears out over an hour or so.

Have fun.

welcome and do what Bon Jagley said.

Enjoy the game....its the best stadium in the league!

Every first down....stand up and yell...."Move them chains"...

Thanks Lads,

If you're an accurate representation of Jags fans I think I'll have a great day!!

Thanks for the tips, I'll check out that parking, any idea on how much we will pay? What time should we get there for some said 7, some said 10 - the wife is the one driving, so I'll be doing the drinking for the both of us haha

Now, the stadium is brilliant, I was there for the country music fest - though didn't leave our seats due to the unbelievable heat, think I got sun stroke the next day lol - but I believe the bars are amazing from what I read? - worth having a pint there during one of the earlier plays?

Thanks again

Most parking near the stadium is going to be around $25. The Fairgrounds might be $30. But it is a good spot, especially for a one game experience. Good security, most of the same people there every game,

Cool thanks, and with tailgating - how does it actually work, just sit down and eat and drink, like in Ireland I would go and introduce myself to other people or offer them a beer or something, would that be weird over here?
Not at all. Drive up, park (they usually tell you where to park), set up camp and enjoy. If you go to the Fairgrounds, there will be a good mix of people.

www.tailgatersparking.com is another popular place with restrooms, food to buy, etc.

I like to get there at 9:30 AM and get into the stadium around Noon to watch some warmups and then the Prowl. Everyone will have a different idea on this.

Also, know that after the game traffic patterns may re-route you in a different way than you wanted and you will have to figure it out on the fly.

I'll be at the Browns game as well. Traveling from Texas. I'm staying at the Hyatt in downtown... 1.5 mile hike from the stadium.

Cool, so we're both travelling long distances to see the game - are you going to tailgate? We're further out in orange park, stayed there last time we were there and loved it.

I love Texas btw

Most people will be very friendly.  No matter where you park, I would introduce myself to your neighbors.  Let them know you're from Ireland and that it's your first tailgating experience.  Most people will probably offer you food and drinks and possibly invite you to some drinking games.

Get there early, shoot for 9 o'clock.

I would recommend the fairgrounds or tailgaters parking (tailgaters is where I park).

Drinking games are fun!

Don't be afraid to approach other jag fans while tailgating. Show up with some good beer and let them know where you're from and you'll feel welcomed. Now if we were philly or Oakland fans I would tell you to stay in Ireland.

You go around offering Jags fans a beer and you will be making Jags fans friends for life.

lol, so you don't really know how tailgating works?

I guess it has been so long I forgot was it was like to be a tailgating virgin.

Have fun at the game you go to.

I have a feeling people from Ireland are very experienced at drinking games, although they just might meet up with some Jags fans who would give them a good run for their euro.

Haha you're right there! - I'll have to have a few beers before I even go tailgating, to give you all a chance at winning the drinking games hahaha.

Well, personally, I cannot wait to go now, its weird, I kinda know what tailgating is, but can't imagine what it would be like, so I am quite excited for it haha
Bon Jagley nailed it.  Get a couple of cheap shirts at Academy Sports (or even @ Walmart or Target for $15)

Publix Chicken is the best. Breaded wings are great as is their 8 piece box.

Fairgrounds Parking is one of the best open to the public --- if that is full, lot X is always a cheaper convenient option

If you don't get the Jags t-shirts, no problem.  We're pretty easy going since we've been losing and really don't have critical games.  Once the team starts winning again, we can go back to the good old days of hating other teams and their fans.

I have never tailgates at an nfl game, so we will get there like 2-3 hours early to see the stadium and maybe find some good food
