Quote:I'll never not want to win . . . but I think best case scenario for the long term success at this point is for us to accrue losses while our young players improve and then go on a mini-run at the end of the year when everything comes together.

It doesn't matter where we're picking if key players (Bortles, Gratz, Cyprien, Joeckel, etc.) aren't performing well. We're not making the playoffs though, and that means that actual wins are secondary to improved play and draft position for our future success.

Most important is still for our guys to play better.

we have pretty much locked up a top 5 pick with this team.  no worries there.

How can you say the topic is not about tanking when you are advocating getting the #1 pick which would require tanking?  The defense is finally starting to look like it was supposed to.  Bortles is learning the job.  Anyone who did not expect him to have some interceptions against the Steelers defense is just not being honest.  Bortles is a rookie who the admin thought needed polishing.  I'm pretty sure Henne would not have thrown as many interceptions but then again we would have also only had 30 yards passing in the first half.

Other than the pick six that was a very improved overall game and stuff like that is going to happen when you play a raw rookie QB against a Lebeau defense.  Let's see if the defensive improvement continues but we have to win some games.  We can't tank the season because we think it would be nice to trade out of the first overall pick.  There are 11 more games this year.  If we play like we did yesterday we have a good chance of being in all of them.  As the raw rookie QB becomes more polished we can win a decent number of them.

I'll be perfectly happy with a pick out of the top ten if the team can manage it because that means I got to watch the Jags play decent football and it has been far too long since I've seen that.

If Tennessee starts Mettenberger we should have twenty sacks at the end of the game.

I don't think a pick out of the top 10 is even close to being realistic so the options are pretty much come out of this with 2-3 wins or 4-5 wins.  Do you want 4 wins and the #5 pick or would you settle for 2 wins and the #1 pick.  Give me the #1 pick and let me try to turn water into wine.

Just win and let the chips fall where they may for the draft.
