Quote:I'd add Marks to your defensive list.

The biggest thing is that it's too soon to know with all of this youth.  We also don't know if any of the following will become key pieces:

McCray, R Davis, Colvin, T Smith, Storm, D-Rob ??  It's too early to know.
I like Marks, but I think he is too old to be considered a building block for the future.

Would he be part of the core group/nucleus 3-4 years from now?

I dunno.

The guys I mentioned?  Barring anything unusual...yeah.
Bortles needs to throw a few 50 yard passes just to keep the defense honest.

Why the heck would you dink and dunk on a defense that it absent 3 starter (Ike Taylor, Ryan Shazier, and Jarvis Jones) ?

You don't trust the OL to pick up the blitzes and give you the time?
I think it is somewhat comical the level of frustration by some avid members I recognize on here. Ya'll seem to have reached how I felt for the last 3-4 years of JDR.

So, I know how it is! Winning 3-4 games is the same as 8-8 or even 9-7 if you don't get in. I want a Superbowl WIN, nothing else will do, so when I recognized Weaver/Harris/JDR were never getting it done, I started sqwawking.

The original post is a valid one, as are many of the criticisms.

Building blocks-

NUMERO UNO - Shad Khan. I believe he wants to win, and won't quit till he does, and I trust his commitment to Jax. I think we have the best owner in football, and we should all feel blessed to have him.

AND, it looks like we have the QB. Okay, the jury's out still, but Blake Bortles is everything I dreamt about in a qb. There is almost no one else I'd rather have outside of the top 5. I'll give credit to Caldwell here...he skipped Tebow, Manziel, Bridgewater, Smith, any one of which could have set us back years. Good Job!

After these, it gets a little thinner to be sure, but the above puts us ahead of the bottom third in the NFL.

A.Rob looks darn good to me, he's making plays quietly and consistently. I like his build and how he moves, as well as his demeanor.

Hurns needs to grow from his drops this week. Had he made even two of the three that got away things may have gone differently.

The O-line is coming along.

The D-line is coming along.

Cyp's likely a keeper.

Ace Sanders is a gamer, so I'll include him.

Lee I'm a little worried about. He looked a bit small, and not quite fast enough for the kind of player I had hoped for in him, but it was a short look before he injured himself. So there's still hope.

The kicking is pretty good, but Banger and co. need to learn how to pin the opponents deep. Some suspect kick coverage too. It would be nice to see them level-up as a genuine force of heavy-hitting special teamers.

We aren't having the kind of bs that occurred under JDR. Off field crap is down considerably outside of JB. Ace seems to have gotten the memo.

There is definitely work to do, but there are blocks in a foundation.
