Big Ben's football credentials are impressive.

Lock up your women around him.... zing!

But back to football, Let me clarify my whatif.  Watching Ponder play last night was like a younger Henne on the field.
I'd say Bortles is faster and has a more accurate arm than Big Ben when he was a rookie.

I'd say Big Ben had the stronger arm and had clutch ability.

Bortles may have clutch ability (we don't know because it hasn't been tested yet).

I would be very happy if Bortles' career ended with Big Ben's accomplishments in the NFL....as long as his entire career was with the Jaguars.

Not sure if anyone has seen Ben play lately but he has slowed considerably.  He lost about 10 pounds but I think he runs the 40 in about 7.2

Anyone see the last super bowl that the steelers won? Watch the last 2 minutes and then say ben isn't a good passer.
I think Ben R is extremely over rated.  I have been professing this for years.  The guy would be nobody without his (at that time stellar) supporting defense.

I can cite statistics and facts that prove it, but they will be shot down by " Super Bowl Wins"

Evidently the NFL players also agree:

I've never understood your argument that Ben was overrated because of their good D.   You don't have a 90+ passer rating and lead the team in the clutch comeback victories by having a good defense.  The only subpar clutch game that he had was vs Seattle when he was like 23 years old.  Even prior to that he was clutch @ Indy and @ Denver to get them to the SB.   Perhaps the Seattle is stuck on your brain. The AZ super bowl speaks for itself.

Did you think Elway was any good ?  If so, you should compare stats.  Ben was more efficient and with another 4 years will have just as many yards along with the same 2 super bowls.  OH, Elway had a great OL.

Ben had some good years. Now they are likely over.  He's still capable of playing at a high level but minus the mobility.

Bortles upside is potentially greater than what Ben has done.  The SB rings are the tricky part, but I could see Bortles surpassing Ben's production during their respective first four years.  (even allowing for the rules changes by some determined percentage)

Bortles will have to learn to protect the ball a bit to match Ben's rating over that '04'-'07 period as Ben only had one season during his first four with a high number of picks.

That is not my argument.  He is not over rated because of their consistently top 5 Defense.  Ben is simply over-credited

He is very overrated to me (and many NFL players) because he gets credit by the media and fans for "winning" those games.

Thanks for remembering my post.  I can't retrieve it and it had a lot of data.

Then let our DE's sack the snot out of him Sunday.
Suzy Kolber of ESPN has said as her Bold Prediction that Jags will go 3-1 this month of October

Thats statement of the year to me!

I'm not a teal glasses type person but now that the coaching staff got off of their Henne is our guy belief, I think we'll play a lot better.  Wins are going to be difficult but I just want competitiveness right now --- 4 wins but no more total blowouts by halftime.

She is still working for them? I thought she quit because Lisa Salters is the sideline reporter now. It is nice to see somebody who covered the Jags thinks we can win three games this month.

Watching Ponder play in that first half against the Packers actually reminded me of watching Gabbert play.

Those were some awful times in Jags history.
Monday morning people in Pittsburgh will be saying, "Remember when Ben could play like Blake Bortles"

And people in the rest of western Pennsylvania. Every Steelers fan is going to be surprised at how good Blake is already.
