It's great to see other teams are starting to give us respect. Even if it is just one player on the team.

He is the perfect mix of Big Ben and Andrew luck. He could become the greatest of all time!
Let's let him win a few games before we anoint him with oils and proclaim him the next coming of <insert favorite deity here>

Exactly. Both Bortles and Fisch were only interested in his two Super Bowl rings.

Wait.... You weren't serious, right?
So far, he has displayed the foundational characteristics of a franchise QB. In other words, he needs to continue to develop his game, but he shows all the signs. The future seems mighty bright.

Foundational is a word?

When you already know before he starts a home game he has everything to be a franchise quarterback, you are talking about a very special football player.

The things one can learn on the Jags message board is limitless.

Freeney on Bortles: "He's going to be a force in this league." Chargers heap praise on #Jaguars rookie. http://ow.ly/C6NB8

They all said the same thing about Gabbert too.

Brady: "That Gabbert guy is elusive"

Manning: "You can't stop Blaine, you can only hope to contain him"

Revis: "I hope Gabbert doesn't throw my way"

Bob Sanders: "I'm going to fake an injury so I don't have to go against Blaine"

I think there's an ever expanding consensus that the Jaguars landed a good one in Bortles. So far he looks like he's going to live up to the hype, but there's still a lot of growing to do. Hopefully he is what we think he is.

This might be the highest praise from anyone yet. If there is someone who knows about how good a QB is or can be, its Freeney. He's been around Manning, Luck and Rivers. Played on the biggest stage against people like Brees and Brady.

This makes me feel happy in places.

Seriously? That looks like you made it up.

You mean like when you said Rashean Mathis returned a pick 6 and Fred Taylor had 234 yards in the same game?

Or you could be experiencing irrational exuberance. Don't get me wrong, I agree it does feel and seem as though we have our guy. I'll just wait to see what he looks like in the 2nd half of the season... you know, when teams actually have sufficient tape on him. I mean... our point of comparison for Bortles is Henne. Most starting QBs in the league would compare favorably to Henne. There are probably many backups that would as well.

I don't think Bortles is just going to assume his position as a top 5 QB in this league or even a top 10 without significant work and without the normal ups and downs that rookies and young players in general typically experience.

I feel like such a Debbie Downer writing this.

Disregard everything above.... CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!
