Quote:Hi, Franklin here it's my first post here and as in the name I am a Broncos fan of 19 years and I'm not here to stir things up or troll I will always keep things classy with you guys. I just want to say that I am happy for your franchise and for you fans thats been through thick and thin with this team. You guys deserve this after having been through a lot of rough years and heart aches...believe me I've been there with the Broncos before. I will admit I don't follow you guys regularly but I will start to. Bortles is a good kid with a lot of upside and seems to be well spoken. All the good things you want in a QB so lets hope that the Jags can put some pieces around him. I will accept a bandwagon title but I really like Bortles, so much so that I have brought his Jersey (first ever non Bronco jersey I ever brought.) Watching him in the preseason I became a fan so yeah a bit of a bandwagoner here but in time I will learn a lot about the Jags and its players. Hopefully make some Jag friends while I'm at it. I only felt like this about a QB one other time and well that's why I am a Bronco today. I got that same feeling watching Bortles as I did Elway. I hope he does for you guys what Elway did for us.
Well I will root for him along with you guys and hopefully he can get you guys back to being competitve again in the division. I can't root for him when you guys play Denver but if he beats us I won't be upset. He does start against the hated chargers so I hope he can get a W tomorrow. I will begin to follow a lot of the players here and learn the team so I can chat it up with some of you guys in the future. So in essence yes I came to the board because I like Bortles a lot. Hopefully this guy is the franchise QB you guys need to get over that hump. I will watch tomorrow and hope Bortles beats Rivers and those chargers...for obvious reasons lol. I'm just glad to see Bortles get the start I didn't think I'd see him until the midway point in the season. I will be on the boards for a while and thanks for letting me post here and nice to meet you all and sorry for the long post. Good luck tomorrow.
Welcome to the board! You are in good company because Denver was my favorite AFC team before I became a Jaguars fan and I could not stop liking the Broncos. I get picked on a lot for being a fan of both teams but know people are not trying to be mean about it. There are some other fans of multiple teams on this board, including the Ravens, Lions, and Seahawks. So never be afraid of appearing to be a troll.
So how did you become a huge Blake Bortles fan before his first NFL game? Did you watch him play at UCF the last three years?
Something does not compute. If you have been a Broncos fan 19 years, John Elway was not a rookie at the time because he was drafted by the Colts in 1983.
This is what I did in Week 6 last year: I knew the Jaguars had no chance of making the playoffs and the Broncos had no chance of missing them so I rooted for Denver to stay undefeated because the Chefs were also 5-0 at the time. But I wanted the Jaguars to play very well - no stupid penalties or mental errors, etc. - and wanted the final score to be closer than the 28-point spread. So I rooted for both teams, hoping the Broncos come out on top only because the Chiefs were undefeated.
Feel free to ask us anything about the Jaguars. We want you to know more about the other players than names and numbers.
So JW is a Bronco fan 1st, and Jaguar fan 2nd... interesting.

The Jags are my favorite team now.
Been a Jaguars fan since 98 when I first saw Fred Taylor play. Been a Bortles fan since 2012 when I enrolled in grad school at UCF. It was meant to be. Charge on Blake!

Bad day to use the word charge because we are visiting the Chargers.
You need a new username: UCFjagsfan.
Jags fan since 03. Feels great.
Posting in a legendary thread.

Let me word this differently. The first QB I ever saw play the game that I liked personally was John Elway. When I first started watching football with my dad who was getting me into the sport he was getting me to root for the raiders. I was supposed to be a Raider fan, my dad loves that team "headscratcher" but he's the most die hard raider fan I know. However I saw Elway play and was amazed at how he threw the ball around. He was a tough gritty type player with a huge arm. I didn't really know the game back then as I was still young. I been a bronco fan ever since, never rooted for another team after watching Elway, even after Elway left us I stayed the course and remained a Bronco fan, somehow hoping that we find the next Elway. I've since given up on that dream but we got Manning and he's been fun to watch. Anyways what I meant was, watching Bortles play this preseason I got that same feeling I did as a kid looking at Elway play. I really enjoyed watching his game. I went back and watched some of his college highlights because I wanted to see more of him. The more I watched the more I liked. I know you guys on this board along with the long die hard fans been waiting and waiting and I'm happy for you all.
I really hope the Jags get back to winning. You cheer for a guy like Bortles and this city has been waiting and waiting for a winner. I'm from Louisiana and the situation you guys are in is much like the Saints. There were a lot of diehard Saints fans that waited and waited but the Saints never got over the hump, when they finally landed Brees and Payton they got over that hump and you felt good for the people that was watching Aaron Brooks throw games away with INTs and than laugh about it lol. I am hoping the same goes for you guys one day, hopefully not at the broncos expense but if it came to that I could live with it. You guys are off to a rough start and I don't expect Bortles to come in and save the season but what I am mainly looking for is that "It" factor. I want to see him in the pressure situations and mature week to week. He didn't do too bad when he came in at the second half last week. I'll be watching to see his footwork, pocket awareness and when he makes mistakes I want to see how he responds. I already know he can make the throws. 3rd down efficiency is another key area. I will sit and enjoy the ride and in the process get to know all the other players and coaches. It's not just a one man show I get that and to respect the fanbase and Jaguars organization I feel like I want and need to know everyone.
So you got into football the same way I did. When I was a girl I would ask my dad, "Who's playing?" His answer was always, "Everyone except the two teams that play Monday night."
We have a thread about evaluating Blake Bortles where some people said they want to see leadership and others talked about improving footwork, completing passes, taking chances downfield, etc. It surprised me that I am the only one who mentioned clock management.
Would a bandwagoner have a Matt Jones jersey? I've been a fan sine the day Natrone Means came to be a Jaguar. Unfortunately before that I was a charger fan as I live in San Diego. Luckily before Natrone left I became a fan of Brunell's as he was a left handed QB.
I just need to finally buy a new Jaguars Jersey. So far I've had a Brunell, Matt Jones, and a Jones Drew jersey. Trying to wait to get a Hurns jersey, but Bortles is looking very nice after seeing the 20th anniversary patch version. Too bad custom name jerseys are still expensive.
Let the good times roll!!! :whistling:

So you like left-handed quarterbacks? I am guessing you are a souithpaw too. I am right-handed but Mark Brunell was my favorite player and the one who turned me into a Jaguars fan, so I have his teal jersey.
If the uniform style had not changed, I would suggest taking off JONES and replacing it with SANDERS. But Ace never wore a teal jersey with teal sleeves so that wouldn't work.
When I went to NFL Shop, I did not see any jerseys with the 20th anniversary patch. But another site, either Football Fanatic or Fans Edge, might have it.
There is only one reason I have not ordered a Blake Bortles jersey yet: the authentic version would cost $295. After getting several authentic jerseys for other players all I can think about buying a polyester replica for $100 is that would look and feel wrong.
We gonna need a bigger wagon.

Youre JW.
Shouldnt you have a jersey connect.
I better post in here before game time before people get the wrong idea of me.
Let it be known there are dedicated and passionate Jaguars fans despite all the horrible losing and wasted years. People are going to be getting some teal kool-aid today. I'm not saying we're going to win the game but should show some signs of stability. Probably a much closer game than people anticipate.

Nole 1st, Jag 2nd? Did... did I get that right?
Just wanted to make sure JagsRBake is represented here...
Though, after today's game he may create a new call sign: JagsRBlake
Blake B2 Bomber Bortles for the win!
I went to Seminole High and had the chance to play against both Blake and Teddy Bridgewater. Around draft time, I was on the Bridgewater bandwagon. When we selected Blake, I had reservations. He played LB in high school and didn't have the best mechanics. One thing about Blake that I did like was that he elevated the team around him. Being a Jags fan since 08, which means we haven't had a winning season since I began my fandom, i'm hoping we've found our Peyton en route to a decade straight of at least 10+ wins.
