The T-U offered this article a day or so ago...

The words in the link explain the overall sentiment.
But let's face it, had they hired someone by now, the cry from the masses would be "why didn't they even talk to _____?"
As you have seen on the board, Marrone would not necessarily be a well received candidate by fans who think every coach from the Bradley era needs to be scrapped, irrespective of how much better the team looked in the last two games under Marrone.
Coughlin would certainly have been a safe choice and probably the least criticized, but clearly he hasn't sold ANY team yet. No team has hired him.
Mike Smith would have been another good choice, IMO, but again, he would be seen by many as a mediocre choice, especially for those who want an offensive guy.
If the Jaguars want the best possible candidate, they owed it to themselves and the fans to wait and interview any candidates who weren't available to be interviewed until this weekend.
I think the two weeks gave them the chance to get the Coughlin interview out of the way, gave Marrone a two week audition plus an official interview., and line up interviews with as many of the available guys they might be interested in, absent the guys not available until this weekend.
This is just my speculation and nothing else, but I think the Jaguars will name a guy no later than Wednesday, and contrary to the sentiment in the article, I think those two weeks helped.
However, no amount of due diligence and patience is going to satisfy the fans and pundits until the winning resumes here.
