I believe this coaching staff is just throwing something up and hope it sticks. Sad really

Straight up letting folks know they can't ride the wave. If you don't perform, you don't start/play. I like it. Lack of  work discipline seems to be an issue. It's like they're not paying attention during practice and it's translating to gameday.

It's not like there are a lot of options. I hope it improves. It can only go up.
It's like replacing a blind man with a deaf guy at this point...

Close but not quite.

Its.like replacing a blind man with another blind man
As long as we go away from playing one deep safety for now, I am fine with it. Cyprien/Evans is not a bad pairing for a cover 2 defense as they have shown against Denver last year.

If we keep the same scheme as the last 3 weeks however, it won't matter who starts, the deep safety for that scheme is not on the roster.

Maybe we'll cover a TE somewhat. Free conversions killing us.

Thomas looked so lost in preseason, I was suprised he made the roster over Stupar. Not expecting much out of him, but maybe he has pass rushing skills we haven't seen yet. Hopefully he can tackle

He'll be playing the OTTO, he didnt play the OTTO in preason too much so he may be effective.

JT Thomas replaces Dekota Watson and LaRoy Reynolds at the OTTO position.

1010XL Says the coaches reasoning was that Dekota had mental errors and LaRoy was under-performing with missed tackles.

I am all for giving a guy second chances and learning from his mistakes, but in regards to Chad being replaced with Blake it was obivious that Blake was better & didnt have his chance unlike Chad whom had years...

Josh Evans coming in is like saying he was at least good enough to not look this bad last year...
Leroy is moving back to MLB and I think JT thomas starting is an indication that the Otto idea didn't work out like they planned.

Gotta say, it's pretty disappointing Watson isn't starting at OTTO.. Especially after Lageman and the coaching staff and just about everyone else who covered the Jags hyped him up to be some kind of FA steal.

JT can tackle so that's nice. He may not bring a lot of plays to the table but shouldn't be a liability unless he is asked to cover the flat.

This.
Glad to see Josh get the start. Guy was atrocious. And Josh actually played well last year considering he was a rookie 6th round pick. I'd like to see him have a chane to develop this year.
Landon Collins can't get here fast enough. This team has so many holes it's pathetic. I remember Jarius Byrd was out there waiting to be paid but Caldwell is still shopping out of the bargain rack to notice. Gotta spend money and quit this frugal crap.

Is there a reason why this organization has never spent the money to get good players OR keep them? There was always big name FA options and we didn't go for them at all... Or we would let go of our own even though we had large amounts of cap space. I don't get why we keep going for average/mediocre players. If you get a team of average players, you get a terrible team. Average players need star players to make the team decent. We never spend the money... ever.

Byrd has played poorly when I've seen him.

The last time we spent serious money was back in the 90's and that resulted in 2 AFC championship games in 4 years.   Yes we went into salary cap hell but atleast we had some great years.

It's been too long since this team has been good
