QUESTION

Who determines when the college games are going to be played?  The reason I ask is because the Georgia vs Tennessee game is scheduled for noon.  Given the popularity of the teams, wouldn't they benefit from a prime time kickoff OR at least a 3:30pm kickoff?  Who determines the game will be at noon?  It does not seem to be ideal for anyone but perhaps filling a necessary TV slot --- does the university respond to TV offers and does the visiting team have any say in the kickoff time?

Thanks !!

The schedules are determined by the conference, and I'm sure the networks have some input as well. I would assume part of it is which games they think would do better in the prime slots (3:30, 7, 8pm, etc).

I am sure it is mostly the TV networks.

Got it --- I didn't think about the Conference heads having input but that makes sense.  A combo between the conference heads and tv execs.

CBS gets first pick of SEC games for the 3:30/2:30 timeslot. I'm guessing the same is true for ABC when it comes to ACC/B1G/PAC-12 games aired in primetime.

What about all of the ESPN networks? Some of them are great games and others are duds.
