Was anybody else upset that the Colts were able to hit our QB for free, without any repercussions? Yes, it was Henne-- so who cares?--, but still. Does this pretty much sum up how respected we are as a football team by the league as a whole, that our most important position is allowed to be teed off on?
Hope the refs get suspended for this.
They gifted us with a hands to the face that saved us a safety later in the game. I'm fine with it.

Pasztor can't get back soon enough.
As I figured he would, Bortles escaped at least two sacks that would have been easy sacks with Henne in the game, but that particular play was absolutely terrible protection. It's one thing to get beat around the end, but to get beat so instantly inside is the one thing that should never happen.

Even the refs were trying to help Henne out by giving him an excuse to leave the game..
The clot defender did the right thing by finishing the play, although the hit on Henne was unnecessarily hard. I was more disappointed that Ryan Davis stopped after he jumped offside, giving Luck a free play.

Yep, you jump offsides just run at the QB. Better the play be stopped for 5 yards than running the risk of the big play.
It's something I've always hated about the Jaguars. I see other teams jump and just keep coming but our guys invariably try to get back across the line and end up causing a worse problem than if they'd have just decked the QB and taken a personal foul penalty.

You're right that the colt player might have thought it was still a live play. My gripe is more about the ref either not blowing the play dead more immediately, or blowing his whistle louder, or penalizing the defender. But the total disregard for our QB's health, in a league that goes over the top (IMO) in protecting all non-Jag QB's, was what irked me.

You would need to get the rules committee to take this up. He didn't break the rules. The Texans have done this to Jaguars QBs repeatedly.

Absolutely. This needs to be coached... never give them a free play!

Yes, I remember that, and I was astonished there was no personal foul called. "Unabated to the quarterback" means they blow the play dead before the quarterback gets hit. If they don't blow the whistle, it's not "unabated..." it's just offside. So how could you have both "unabated..." AND the quarterback getting clobbered? It makes no sense.
We didn't get the call because he was not Peyton Manning.
Could someone post a GIF of this play?
I said this in the game thread, had it been Manning or Brady the whistle would've been blown with a quickness.
I agree they did call that whistle late and Henne took a cheap shot. If that was Brady or Manning the official would break their arm to throw that flag out. They kinda looked around and said "it's henne who cares."

Unabated to the quarterback is a 5 yard penalty even if you hit him. We have had our QB pummeled and only the 5 yard penalty. We debated this in a thread somewhere around here. Basically the conclusion was, if every team started exploiting this to take cheap shots on the QB, the rule would get changed. There is nothing stopping a defense from running through the QB on every offsides "unabated" play.
