This guy played his first full NFL game today and did really well. It'd be nice if he turns out to be the answer at center. One less problem to deal with.

I thought the OL played pretty decent given the circumstances.

The line looked better, although there were times when an anemic Indy pass rush was collapsing the pocket with way too much regularity.
Center of the future. Nice knowing we potentially don't have to spend another draft pick on the position.

It was manufactured pass rush. The Colts rarely got push without bringing extra guys.
Yup he played a pretty good game considering it was his first NFL start. Let's hope he turns out to be the answer at the position.

Was just going to say the same thing. There was one play, the play where Bortles was sacked, where they straight up whipped our o-line and pushed them back into Bortles' lap. Other than that, they were bringing an extra man on every play to try to get to Bortles.
He did pretty good. I'm more worried about the defensive line and the entire defense tbh... I know Bortles can take care of himself and get out of situations.

I was simply hoping for a ham sandwich in exchange for Gabbert. Hopefully we found the answer at center instead.

Understood. Manufactured of not, it doesn't speak well for when we do face a stout pass rush. Hopefully they continue to develop, and with continuity and chemistry things will get better.
Ya i wouldnt get too jazzed about him until we play some better defensive fronts
Protection will look a lot better with Bortles. He has Rothlisberger pocket presence
They weren't very good, and against one of the worst pass rushes in the league. I hope it gets better, but there are a lot of rookies out there. I saw little to get excited about, personally.

Saw on twitter that towards the end of the game they literally had 3 rookies on the o-line (c, rg, and rt) while that's certainly not a good thing, I couldn't help but think that if these young guys can progress week to week, we may have a decent o-line by the last half of the season.

We'll see. When teams have enough film and time to prepare for him, we'll see where he's at in his progression.

They're going to blitz the hell out of him, and they're going to disguise coverages a lot. He's going to struggle early, but the more they throw at him the more tape he will have to study and the more prepared he will be for the exotic coverages in the future.

That's entirely the goal this year. Getting better through experience bodes well long term for this young team.
the line looked good on screens today when they were asked to get outside quick they looked very athletic

especially with defenses blitzing us left right and centre i think wide receiver in motion to one side and screen to the other would be a good staple to our offense and give us another way to run the bootleg

I thought he played great.

Exactly. I fully expect Bortles to develop. I just think this blood lust to declare him a finished product by some on this board just because he played today is a little over the top. There's a lot of developing to do. Good first step, but let's not oversell it.
