Herp, derp...I knows better then football people herps and derps. put  BB5 in, he magical. he can play the o-line, defense and receivers he's so good. Bortles be magic. After the game he is going to go over to the mayo clinic and cure cancer.

Yes, cuz that's what we're all saying.

I don't understand why some here take a confrontational attitude regarding these types of discussions.  You realize everyone on this board (for the most part) wants exactly what you want---What's best for this team...  We are just discussing what we all believe is the best thing to do.

Lot of anger in this post for a beautiful Sunday morning. Free hugs today at the Bank.
Quote:Gus, get off the boards and get your team prepared.
I'm waiting for my power point presentation for later this week to be uploaded... but that's beside the point. We're in a race to maturity

That just leads to the philosophical debate that if at 80% of what Bortles can be he's better then Henne then is that good enough for you, or would you rather have him at 100 and the team actually functioning around him?
Quote:I remember a 2 minute drill against Detroit against #1's that led to a FG. We will ignore that one though.

You shouldn't ignore it. It clearly shows he's a talented player. Keep your expectations reasonable though, it was preseason and he did throw a near INT on that drive.
I cant believe it, I have been having a problem with the outboard on my boat. I just heard it crank up and went outside and BB5 was standing there and he just said, "you're welcome" and road off down the road on a white horse. He was wearing shiny armor. It was cool. He totally saved the day.

Says the guy planning to boo as soon as the team takes the field.

False statement.....i plan to start when they walk through the SEZ tunnel.

Better idea. Go down to under the SEZ and boo them in their faces during right before they enter the field.

See what I mean?
I'm just going to cheer until my throat is sore. I'll cheer every 3 and out by our offense, every sack they allow, every 3 yard completion on 3rd and 8.

Because that's what a true fan does, right? After all, we can't expect to have a winning season EVERY year, can we? Oh, wait a minute.....never mind.

I'll answer your question with a question.  Do you think putting BB5 in at 80% will create a ceiling to which he can never become fully developed at 100% of his potential?

This is removing all other variables.

Now if we talk about the support around the QB, we are obviously lacking and will probably lack full effectiveness at O-Line, RB, and WR, untill next year when the WRs have more experience and we revamp our O-Line.

But does that negate whether or not to put the best player in under center that we have available?  I don't think so.

Now if you were to tell me that BB5 is progressing at a level that is not ready for the NFL, then yeah, keep him out.  For instance, if he has a throwing motion like Tebow.  Or if he has the pocket awareness of a Gabbert.  Or if he can't read defenses and has a tendency to lock on to his first read....  But all these concerns were blown up in pre-season.

Contrary to public opinion, BB5 did play snaps against the first team, and did pretty darn well during the pre-season.  His throwing motion is sound.  His footwork looked OK for the most part.  Only a few throws I remember were flat footed from the back foot.  He made things happen.  He had command of the huddle.  The game seemed to be coming to him and he wasn't over-whelmed.

At this point, with what we've seen so far.  I don't see how we don't give him the option.

The second scenario would be ideal. But this is real life. Veteran FAs like Clemons and Bryant only have so much energy to expend. Last year, they expended that energy and won a Super Bowl. Now, as long as this team remains non-competitive, Gus is asking them to expend that same amount of energy for nothing.

Can you imagine? A man's got to have a goal or target to justify the work.

If this team gets blown out today, you can expect the locker room to start losing faith and playing that way.

walterfootballs endorsement provides more validation to the opposing argument in my book

though i greatly appreciate his rankings of players a year in advance as an indicator of who to watch out for in college football the guy is a class 1 buttwad

It is a nice morning.  And hope springs eternal prior to kick-off...
Pete Carroll went with a rookie QB in his 3rd season as coach. That extra season made all the difference with the totality of the roster churn in Seattle. And it's the plan here too, we just drafted the guy one year earlier.

Carrol's team also made the playoffs the first year though.

Then why not do it where it can most effective. If you want to boo a player and you want him to hear it best, do it during "The Prowl". You're not afraid, right?
