Quote:I'm a huge Bortles fan but i'm worried he isn't gonna meet the rabid expectation of the Boner for Bortles Brigade on here.  He's a rookie and he will struggle some when he gets his chance.  I'm dreading this board when that happens.  If he were thrown in this weekend, i feel it would be bad.  So what's his stat line?  And for giggles, throw Henne's out there too.

Henne: 21 - 37, 191 yards, 1 td 1 int, 3 sacks

Bortles: 24 - 37, 216 yards, 2 tds, 3 int, 2 sacks

Jags lose under both scenarios.  Hopefully no injuries.  No point in starting Bortles at this time IMO.

Please let me know what the winning powerball numbers are.  Need to know before Saturday's drawing.
Hurns is Botles "go to" guy.

I say rest up Cecil and Hurns until week 5 and unleash the 3 vs the Steelers very weak secondary and poor pass rush.  Their DC (Lebeau) has not figured out the new recipe of the 3 step drop and getting rid of the ball quickly a team lining up with 4 receivers (including 2WR / 2 TE sets or a 3WR/1TE formation).

40/40 425 yards 4 tds 0 ints

All Hail King Bortles, King of QBs!

Underselling him a bit there.

40/40 3200 yards, 40 touchdowns, 0 INTS.  He also rushes for 80 yards and a touchdown.  Jags win 287-3.  One game in, and he almost breaks the 50 TD record in a season.  Gus was planning on putting our second string in the second half, but the Colts forefit at half-time.

The rest of the league is grateful for the mercy of Lord Bortles, for the rest of the season he limits himself to 5 touchdowns per game, ending the season with just 115 TD's, and just shy of 10,000 yards.

...Brandin Cooks sadly still wins rookie of the year.
22/34 274 yards 2TDs 1 INT 7 rushes 35 yards rushing TD Jags win.

Thanks for coming out.
Quote:We'd see a lot less three and outs.  And Bortles would get the experience he's going to need.  Waiting until next year to start Bortles, means waiting until 2016 for him to have the experience to overcome the mistakes that will happen whether he starts now, or later.
I disagree.  He's still growing now and it's not some golden rule that you need a year to have enough experience to avoid mistakes.  That's what to coaches are there for, to develop, teach and assess.  QBs come in and can be immediately successful, some with time on the bench, some without.  Let the coaches who do this for a living and see him everyday figure it out.
Quote:Also you seem to be ignoring more efficient offense would also lead to more scoring, not just TD's, but FG's as well.
How am i ignoring that?
Quote:I think this team has a good chance to win the game if Bortles had been named the starter this week.

I still think the team has a chance with Henne but it's a slim one.
I think you are severely over estimating how good this team is in its current state.  Bortles can't block, run, catch and play D.  We're gonna get toasted with either QB.

Well, someone's bored...

And I disagree with you.  How bout' that? Coaching will only get you so far. I know I'd rather see this team be more competitive, than the DOA we've been seeing.

Says the guy who posts 4x in a row.

Oh no, I think I just did my own pet peeve by not responding directly to the question.  Regarding Bortles' stat line .....

18 - 24 for 235 --  2-tds and 1-int.   2 sacks

Quick slants and rollout strategies will negate part of the pass rush.

You showed me!

You are correct, i am bored.  It's the only time i come on here.  If i'm posting, i'm bored.
Bortles will also kick a 65 yard FG!

And follow that up by throwing the ball over them 'thar moutains?
A hypothetical stat line on a hypothetical situation, reach for the stars Jags!

If you don't want to read trivial non-sense, don't come on this board.  Thats all it is.  Don't complain, embrace!
You know things aren't good when we're projecting stats for someone who isn't going to play.  When he finally gets a chance he will do what rookies do...look great at times and look boneheaded at others.

The idea is to see where the expectations are based on the cries for Bortles.  Curiosity drill is all.
