Just heard some of these numbers on the radio yesterday.... didnt realize it was this bad.  Through 3 weeks so far the Big10 is 1-10 against teams from the other major power 5 conferences.  1-10!!!  The only win being Rutgers over Washington St.

Also, the Big10 is only 5-3 against the MAC.  Which includes Iowa victory over Ball St when they were down by 10 with 3 minutes to go and made a furious comeback  to get  the win.  So the Big10 could easily be 4-4.

Heard someone joking that the Big10 and MAC should essentially form one conference with two divisions similar to English Premier league.  And each season one team would get relegated out of the Big10 and one team would get promoted out of the MAC into the Big10.  I'm afraid Indiana would get relegated and would never be able to make it back!

It is unlikely that the BIg Ten will ever return to glory. In the days of Ohio and Pennsylvania being football powerhouses, the schools were stocked with talent. Now more of the talent comes from the south, Texas and California. Those schools have a hard time pulling players from those states. Ohio State gets a few. Michigan might get a couple. But even with those players, they are overmatched. They are smaller and slower.

I would add also Nebraska needed a last second TD to beat McNeese State and Penn State needed a last second field goal to beat UCF.

Michigan State hung with Oregon but in the end, Oregon wore them out and ran away with that game.

Yup. The Big Ten is becoming more of a basketball conference than a football conference. Too much football talent comes from the south, like SDR stated, for the Big Ten to keep up. There is plenty of basketball talent in the Midwest, though.
